Hi all

My daughter got PM offer of SPK (St Paul Kindergarten) and AM off of HY (Heep Yunn).

For SPK, No Net, learn simple phonic at K3, No PTH, the advantage is more chance to its primary school and the primary school is English.

For Heep Yunn, has NET, PTH, but cannot direct to its primary school.

Any comment?

I think the first factor to consider is "How much do you like their secondary schools?"

其實你自己巳經分析咗兩間學校的分別，只有你自己最清楚想要D乜。

No, Phonic is start at K1 for SPK

Partly agree.  I would say the attendance of both of these kindergartens have a strong tie with their corresponding primary school.

As birth rate has risen, i don't think there are still any chances for outsiders to enter SPCS (primary section).  So, if you like this primary school so much, then should consider it.  Of course, please do some home works to understand more of how their study environment is.

Similarly, what Heep Yunn kindergarten can provide is to gain door-knocking places of their primary school.  However, it will be a competitive environment too since that is so limited.

We are also struggling. Got an am offer from a v good international school where the elder one is already studying at and a pm offer from SPK. Both are good schoools & full-trained, don't know how to choose. Seems difficult to choose their path when they are only 2.5 years old...!

hi Ian or mums,

what do you think of the chance for SPK girls to get a place in P1 at SPC ? Some mentioned 80-90%, is this realistic? How many P1 places for SPC?

SPK does not release any info about their % of entering into SPC P1, nor they have any statistics in website showing their P1 allocation....where should I get the relevant info??

hi ccicq,

I can see you are really concern with the percentage.  However, no ones including the school management can tell you exactly how many percent can be admitted to SPCS.  It is because all the percentages we have talked about here in BK are simply based on PAST EXPERIENCES.  And the unfortunate truth is that we will witness the first year of increase of birth rate after so many years.  So, this is going to change all the statistics collected before.

Looking at the actual figures, SPK have 180 students, SPN will have around 60-70 and SPCDN around 30-40.  So, there are approximately 280 students in total.  As the boys population are getting smaller so I will make an estimate of just around 10% boys out of these three, and definitely not more than 15%.  So, we are looking at around 250 girls from kindergarten/ nursery level.

SPCS has around 200 students for P1, may be a few more than that which we are looking at over 40 students a class already!

At the end, the percentage is affected by how many of these will head elsewhere other than SPCS.  I won't try to guess since I cannot tell what are in the mind of each parent.  So, you can make the assumption yourself.

係呀, 如果不是有spk offer, 都好難決定讀不讀hy好? 因為hy都真係好學校, 收60個學生而自己個女係其中一個都係不易既事......
