We should write to EDB to express our concerns on the DSS of HYS [複製鏈接]

I am a parent of HYPS. I am also disappointed by the DSS arrangement of HYS. Although I do not object the change of the DSS mode, I do not agree the charge of high school fee which will turn HYS 貴族化。

I think we can do something, it is never too late because EDB has not approved their application yet. Someone works in EDB told me that EDB might consider the concerns of the stakeholder and will ask the School to reconsider the parents views. EDB might ask the School to cut the school fee if they learn there are a lot of parents who are disagreed to the high school fee. You can write to Mrs. Michelle Wong at  [email protected] who is the Deputy of Secretary for Education(4). She is the one responsible for assessing the DSS application of the schools. I write to her already(I even c.c. to Mrs. Cherry TSE who is the Secretary for Education). They replied that they will follow-up the issue.

So I encourage more parents write to EDB. May be we can change something.

Did you need to provide your name in the letter/email?  I think most parents concern about the possible trouble caused if names are required.

I also called them to express my views today.

send e-mail to EDB to express views

I did send the e-mail to EDB. I have put down my name. I don't mind. I just stated my opinion. I express that I did not object the change of DSS of HYS but I doubted the high rate set and the mechanism of subsidy scheme. Hope they will follow-up.

Since the school has not submitted the application, it may not be the best time to complain to EDB. I will do it after the submission based on the fact that the school has not consulted the key stakeholders before arriving the decision.

But I had written to the school, hoping that they will take into account the parents' consideration.

They said they would note our opinions and pass those on to the board.  According to the one answered the phone, they have received quite a number of complains/ suggestions.  I think our calls/letters had already drawn their attentions.

The school had not submitted the application yet but I think they were processing something because he asked whether I had been to the 1/30 meeting or not and they knew the school had consulted all stakeholders, eg., old girls, teachers, all parents, etc.  I told them that those were not proper consultations.  As a member of the old girl association, I had never been consulted and the so called consultation meeting we joined on 1/30 was only for the school to tell us their plan.  

I think it's not too early to call/write to them.  It's good they knew parents' attitudes to the change before they receive the application.

Our united effort counts

My husband and I had written to HYS and awaiting for their reply.

BY the way, I have learned that some of the parents who had jointly sent letter to EDB to express their conerns of the DSS arrangement of HYS. Although I did not know the reply of EDB to the parents, I think it might impose impact to HYS's DSS application, to some extent.

SO parents pl keep on striving for the benefit of our daughters.

I agree.  I hope more parents could call/write to EDB to show their concerns.  

Actually when our girls first entered HYPS, we were told so we had expectation that 85% of the HYPS students could go to the current HYS.  The change of HYS is not fair to HYPS students.
