1) 一二年級比較輕鬆, 不妨給小朋友多些參與學校的活動, 發掘她的興趣與強項
2) 由於初小的課程比較輕鬆, 我自己覺得在學術上沒有太多要準備的地方, 反而要訓練小朋友獨立,與人溝通和表達的技巧
3) 現時的升中百分比約為85%-90%, 但如果一轉直資, 以現時協小的成績, 可能只有65-70% (B Grade above). 所以如果中學轉直資, 小學就肯定會"谷"學生的成績, 亦相信小學都極有可能轉埋直資
4) 如教育局如期批核, 2011年1,2月份應該有結果和轉直資的時間表

Congratulations! 協恩真的是一間非好的學校, 老師都非常有愛心. 我囡囡自己都非常鐘意。但其實都好谷, 尤其是佢3年級由中文開始分HYPS班, 到4-6年級中英數都會分, H班就是個科成績比較好的同學, 當然功課都會深啲和多啲。始終協恩都是傳統學校, 想好似國際學校咁愉快學習就唔會。

Hahe and SzeMa - Thank you for the information. Would you please update me if there is any news in Feb. Are you working moms? I was told there is almost 10 pieces of Homework every day on average. Is it true?

我囡囡今年小一, 每天功課1小時內完成, 就算星期五放學連埋假期功課都係好快搞掂, 星期五晚可以完成晒, 星期六日都係返興趣班, 溫習, 玩, 所以整體協恩唔多功課, 我見囡囡暫時都好輕鬆, 每日仲有時間睇課外書, 練琴, 溫習.....等等

中文和英文黙書每週一次。功課就大槪6-8樣。夏天PE要上游水堂, 樂器唔係一定要學的,不過for你小朋友, 學樂器有好多好處。越高年級就會越來功課和project做。校長自己都講過係協恩小學讀書係唔會輕鬆的。協恩有好多課外活動可以參與,雖然要留校，亦都會有校車。我都是working mom, 囡囡低年級時, 晚晚都會同佢對功課和温習, 現在已經全部放手了。

How many lesson a day? Is there any 導修課?

If the pick-up location is Kowloon West, do you have any idea when the usual pick-up time is ?

You mentioned you are also a working mom and when your girl was young, you helped studying every night... how long did it last for... p.3. or p.4?

For swimming class, do I need to do some preparation work for it? My girl tried to learning swimming ... however, she is not willing to put the floating board aside. Will the PE teacher be very pushy or will teach gradually? Does it mean one teached look after 30+ student every class for swimming? Will it be easily overlooked?

Sorry for so many questions... I think I am over-excited!!

1) There are 6 lessons a day. The school will launch 適應班 for P1 student before new school term started.

2) There are less than 10 swimming Lessons in the whole school term. A trainer, an assistant and a PE teacher will take care the class. Besides, school usually invites mums as volunteers to look after the girls for changing the clothes. Don't be worried, the trainer will encourage the students to learn rather than pushing them to do so.

3) For learning musical instrument, even it is not a must, I think it is definitely an advantage for entering a good secondary school in future. You can learn it in school or outside.

4) No. of homework - it is acceptable.
    From my girls experience :
      •    For P1-3 : finished in an hour (except long holiday)
      •    For P4 : about 1.5 hrs (for weekdays)
      •    For P5 : average 1.5-2 hrs (for weekdays)

My girl is in P2.

HYPS have additional classes after school for ones who need help.  Students in these classes can take school bus with kindergarten girls afterwards.

My girl takes 2-3 hours to finish her homework every day.  Longer time required if she has to do writing or drawing.  

I can't remember the depth of the swimming pool but most of the P1 girls cannot stand up in the pool.  It would be better if your girl can swim or she would be frightened.  BTW, my girl had only taken 2 swimming classes before summer break when she was in P1.  It was mostly for the girls to learn how to change and dress rather than how to swim.  Actual swimming class starts from P2.  Teachers would divide the girls into groups of different levels, so no worries on safety.

HYPS required the girls to do a lot of reading, both in Chinese and in English, so you might want to build up her interest in that.  And, some girls who were from international kindergartens found Chinese very difficult when they first entered P1.  Since HYPS is a Chinese primary school, all subjects except English are taught in Chinese.

HYPS is a very good school and your girl would like it.

I live at Kowloon Station, pick up time for my girl is 6:40 in the morning ( the 1st station).  Hope will be better for you. Re the swimming lesson, really not enough time for the kids to learn swimming during PE lesson, better let her join some semi-private or group lesson before that.  I usually spent about 1 to 1 1/5 hrs with my daughter for the first 3 yrs for checking the homework, doing revision & some supplemental Eng exercises. HY Primary is a Chinese school, but Secondary is English.  Re: the musical instrument lesson, they'll give you a list to choose & they'll find a teaher for you, rate is cheaper than the outside one.  Don't worry, you daughter will adapt quickly.

I was told there would be a fun day on 11 Jan. Is it true? Is it open for public?

And I am thinking about trip for the last kindergarten summer holiday of my girl. I wonder if there are any briefings and/or preparation class in the coming summer for p.1 student. Anyone can share the previous experience so that I can make sure we will be in Hong Kong for them....

Also, I am thinking about moving to a flat near the School. I am not familiar with the area. Wonder if there are any suggestions. A housing estate witin walking distance of the School will be fanastic..

I have checked the site once. It is very convenient to go to school from there.  

Do you know if a lot of HYPS students are living in this estate? If yes, my girl can easily make friends there.
