of course, st paul boys is better; but it's really hard for kids. by the way, they would love to enrol the "elder" kids instead of "younger" ones.

since my boy is a young one, he failed to enrol in st paul boys. however, i have no regret to let my boy studying in raimondi now (primary 1). he loves schooling, that's what all parents want!

dear tigerboy,
hehe, my son is also tiger boy leh, but he is tiger head i think yrs is tiger tail right? i cried over one month when he was born coz he was born ahead of schedule, supposed to be a rabbit boy,..
it's very kind of you to answer our worries, please may i ask one more question, is it only one building for raimondi primary school, i had visited some part of the campus, i found only one playground on the 4th floor, are they using the sec campus leh, if not, there is not much place wor, please correct me if i am wrong.

兩間比較我想聖保羅會好啲但佢地的要求是很高的, 若然你小朋友是乖巧和主動的當然好因佢地功課量很大, 在校的表現又要很傳統, 我仔仔是高主教的小一生而我又是在職媽媽, 雖然對學校認識不算深入但到目前為止我很滿意學校的做法, 從開學到快小測每一步都有明確指示不會令到小朋友徬徨不知所措, 聽說這小學已改變了一些傳統作風不會嚇怕小朋友, 希望小小意見幫到你.

BOTH ARE GOOD IN ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT. BUT I WILL CHOOSE ST PAUL BOY BECAUSE:

1. DSS SCHOOL, THERE WILL BE SUBSIDY FROM GOV'T.  MORE RESOURCES FOR SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT.

2. SMALLER CLASS SIZE.  THE CLASS SIZE OF RAIMONDI IS 40 SOMETHING. BUT FOR ST PAUL, IT SHOULD BE 30 SOMETHING. (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF MY INFO IS WRONG.)

3. BETTER SECONDARY SCHOOL CONNECTION.  I THINK ST PAUL COLLEGE IS MUCH BETTER THAN RAIMONDI.

THE ABOVE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINION, IF SOMETHING WRONG, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

yes, my boy is the tiger tail!

as i know, the kids are using the 4/f playground only (will confirm it w/ my boy tomorrow) & most of the time, they make use of the hall. u're right that there is only 1 building for primary session & 1 for secondary.

by the way, i bet u have more hints in the difference between st pauls, st louis & raimondi now. be honest, st pauls was my 1st choice but the rules are too strict for "tail" boys. fine! my boy failed anyway.

no regret in choosing raimondi as they really prove that they're willing to take care of younger ones.

st louis... can't comment on it as i haven't chosen it. it's not fair for me to comment.

thanks heaps for yr advice thru pm. i really need to scratch my head carefully. just want to 818 and also for my personal interest, can you ask yr boy where is the female toilets in school, i kept finding but hardly found one, finally one mami said never mind lah, hurry hurry emergency mah, i dont want to shock the little boys to see an old woman suddenly. well, for raimondi, i knew it was famous for a long time coz i have relatives and friends studied there before, in the olden days and nowadays, i know it is good in both moral and academic; for st lo, i just heard abt it since i moved to hong kong side told by my neighbour whose husband is a teacher; for st paul, i was told by a mami whose son is there and she is so proud of it. personally i prefer st louis due to the old ppl saying, ' have how big head wear how big hat" it's atmoshpere and the approach is so impressing to me they always emphasis on happy childhood but is whole man education...my neighbour said, better let yr son to be a big fish in the pond rather than a small fish in the sea. i would choose 'the sea' before but now i changed coz i think a happy childhood is also important.

there are female toilets on several floors only, but i don't really clear about that.

st paul boys is a very famour school in hong kong. however, the studies are really hard, and they require all boys to be skillful in both extra activities & academic. of course, as if the kids can go straight to secondary, they're all top ones.

st louis used to be a reputable one, but it's obvious that the kids there are slightly lower level in overall (sorry for my aweful description, i hope u understand what i mean).

raimondi... ha ha ha! personal reason: my 1st boyfriend studies there!!! i did have bunches of boyfriends studying in raimondi. it wasn't a band 1 school when i was young; however it turns to be now. kids there are not stupid, they're live & fresh! that's why i think the school really allows the students to learn & live in a happy environment.

since my boy is tiger-tail, st paul boys' typical but stressful atmosphere may not be suitable for him. st lo's - no comment! but raimondi... u know my reason now!

wanna talk more, u're welcome as i'm working the evening shift. i'm still at office right now.

Sorry, they are also use few classroom at the old building which I found they have two buildings of the primary section, correct me if I'm wrong.

yes, they have 2 buildings for primary kids, some classrooms locate at the new block & some at the old one. have confirmed w/ my boy, however he's too young to describe them to me. what i got... 1 for secondary, 1 for younger kids (like them) & 1 for measurement of height & weight (teachers use, which i think is a smaller playground just for gathering only).

my boy also said that there are ladies & mens rooms & some are for both ladies & mens. sound funny ha! that's what my boy's expression. let's guess!

I really hv a headache now! Pls help! My boy was accepted by Raimondi. He failed in Wan Yan today (1st round). Raimondi not allow registered student to participate in central allocation. I have to make a decision whether to reserve the place in Raimondi or to place our bet in 2nd round in order to get a place in our 1st choice - Wan Yan. But if I do so and fail, my boy will hv no chance to get into both school.

It's really a difficult decision. Although I heard that Raimonsi is not bad, I would think Wan Yan is a better school. Should I give up Raimondi and take the risk or play safe ? Anyone know how many boys applied Wan Yan in the first round? It may be a good indication of the number of boys who wil apply in the 2nd round.

Dear Oasis,
Our situation is same as yours. We applied Wah Yan and was not chosen. This is obvious as they only have 34 seats and 11 seats was allocated to the old boys, school related family, and those with brother studying there. The rest of 23 seats were given to those with the same reigion. My boy does not have the baptism certificate (though we are cathelic) and therefore the chance, all at the beginning, was 0. If you choose to apply Wah Yan again, you will be competing with a large crowd for just 30 seats (45% of all available).

I have decided not to apply again in 2nd round and keep the seat at Raimondi - a school that I was told with many good comments.

To study in Wah Yan is, of course, an ideal option (actually comments I heard on the Wah Yan Primary was only "everage" and there is no guarrantee that all students will be going to its Secondary School). However, to gain a seat is more difficult than winning the fourth prize of Mark-six. Will you gamble it with your son's future? Someone said she will choose Kei Wan (Adrich Bay) and give up Raimondi. My choice is different as I would think a progressive and all-round education programme is better than a robotic / turbo-driven ones.

Think of having you son and mine as classmates.
