Actually, not all secondary schools will be cutting classes as the EDB is mainly targeting in areas where coming P6 students are dropping in number. I have involved in a submitted case earlier this year and understand they don't want every schools to do it actually.
Even if it will happen to SHCC, then it depends on the arrangement. If the new proposed method to keep the reserved seats for own feeder schools (i.e. SHCSPS and SHCS) based on the original number of classes, then the effect would not be as big.
Take this year placement as an example:
Total Seats: 216
Discretionary Places: 65
Reserve for S1 repeat: 12
Reserved for feeder schools: 118
As SHCC is the only secondary school I know in HK which reserve all DP for own feeder schools, so at least (65+118) = 183 out of 216 (85%) are available for SHCSPS and SHCS students, with the possible additional seats from unused seats reserved for repeat.
If 1 class is to be cut and if they allow the same number of seats reserved for feeder schools, then the only number affected would be the DP places, dropping from 65 to 54, so just 11 less than before (with the assumption that it will still be 36 students per class).
Hope it helps you understand more of the arrangement (if that ever happen).

聖心書院宜家開6班,唔知第日會唔會縮班呢,如果會就慘,上下午校競爭仲激烈。
英華又多人爭,BPS又縮班,外校生入就仲難了。
我是否過早擔心?! ... |
