Any of your child/student will take part in the solo xylophone class (primary) of the coming HK Schools Music Festival? The piece is Reading (Rag Study) but there are in fact 2 pieces of exactly the same name in the book listed. Any idea which one is correct?

及用大木琴比賽?

Finally, my child's percussion teacher advised that it should be the second piece (on P.19) of the book. Heard from the teacher that the piece for xylophone is around Grade 5 level (for primary section). The piece for marimba may be easier but we have not yet managed to obtain the piece (can only get from HKSMSA by member).

Dear all,

My son has been learning percussion for two years, he is now 6 years old and he really likes to play the instruments. Currently, I would like to give him some exposure and set a target for him. Do you think join this kind of competition a good training for him?

Besides, his percussion teacher said he can try to sit for the exam, could you tell me where can I apply for it?

Thanks a lot, Ming2. Your information is very helpful. And may I know where do the kids usually go for the exam (ABRSM)? Somebody mentioned Hong Kong Percussion Centre in Wan Chai, but somebody else said that if you are not their students, you cannot have exam there... Sorry for asking so many questions.

Wow! Thanks for your valuable information! That means if I don't want my home to be the centre, I need to find a place which can provide enough facilities for the exam. And my son also needs to be familiar with the environment of the place before having the exam.

By the way, do Tom Lee or Parsons Music provide venues for this? Or I need to find a studio for learning percussion and 'rent' a time slot for the exam? If so, do you have any recommendation?Many thanks
