I wonder why so many parents choosing PTH/ENG over CAN/ENG for their kids since most KG has some PTH sessions injected in their CAN/ENG class.  Isn't that enough?!

PTH/ENG is for international stream, i.e. IB steam, that's a bit more expensive
CAN/ENG is for local stream, under government educational schedule, i.e. can claim the government subsidy during k1 to k3 and less expensive
so it depend on yr ability

if u are planning yr child to study in local government primary school, then CAN/ENG
if u are applying for those famous private primary, then PTH/ENG may be an advantage

of course it also depend on the kindergarden's own reputation

good luck on yr choice!

Disagree PTH/Eng is for International stream.  Nowaday, some aided primary and secondary schools also teach Chinese in Mandarine.  So, it is good for a child to build a foundation of mandarine before entering primary school.

You are right, some Can/Eng KG do add in Mandarine class once or twice per week, but I don't think that is enough to train up the ability of a child in Manarine.  I think if you want to learn a language well, you must expose to it almost every day and for a longer duration each day.  So, if you have a choice and the fee difference is not huge, why not try the PTH/Eng stream.

My child's KG is a local PTH/Eng school that can claim government voucher too. The fee for last year (k1) is $660 per month only after deduction.  So, not necessary all PTH/Eng KG are expensive.

Just some clarifications based on my own experience.

都係 can/eng 好d.. 如果唔係, 就要自己教返d 廣東話喇!  小朋友吸收得好快, 應該無問題

Thank you all for your valuable comments.
My kid had a chance to study in PTH/ENG K1 class from PN to K1 in the same school and at the time, after a long discussion with my husband, we chose CAN/ENG class since we both thought we could not provide much support for our kid with our zero background on PTH.  (My kid's KG has 2 twenty mins sessions of PTH a week in CAN/ENG class) But lately we are having regrets and doubts on our decision.  We understand the importance of PTH, but can anyone tell me what is the majority of teaching in PTH in primary school or secondary school (Private or Local)

Well, majority of the primary and secondary schools are still teaching Chinese in Cantonese but I trust there will be increasing trend to teach Chinese in Mandarine in the future.

Anyway, decision already made, don't feel regret lah as many experts is of the opinion that children should not master too many language at the same time to avoid confusion.  I trust you & your husband finally choosed that Can/Eng school also because it is better than that PTH/Eng school in other areas or more famous.  Think in this way will make you feel better.

Thank you Sorb.  Your comforting words have definately eased my mind a little.  You see we haven't thought that far yet, on which school to send our kid to.  We just thought it was hard enough for a kid to learn 2 languages, not to mention all the other stuff but having said that we would still like to have the best in place for our kid .... uhhh!!!   I do feel sorry for this generation.  No wonder why there are so many carzy people developing in the society.
