My baby is currently 17 months old and as our family needs more cash flowing into our tight fists i am thinking about going back to work - but i dont want to give up my baby so the idea of running playgroups at home crossed my mind.

The level of the foreign languages (French and German) proposed is at university level,  but of course, i still have accent and it is never as good as native and prone to mistakes. If i lower the cost to (because of the non native level), lets say around $80-100 for a 45 mins class, would you parents let your kids join even the class is not run by a native?

But i think even for beginner's level, accent is very important... thats why i am not sure if any one would actually join a language class run by non-native. But having said that, i went to some trial playgroups with my boy recently and they were run by Cantonese teachers who dont really speak the teaching medium languages (eng + Mandarin) at a very high level... that's why this foreign language playgroup has come to mind...

Many thanks in advance for your advice and comments.

Frankly speaking, non-native speaking teachers will not be the first choice for beginners.  However, if the tutor fee is low, I think you can run the class like revision class.  I know many babies take foreign languages in those famous centres with native speaking teachers but the parents do not know how to practise with them.

Thanks for sharing your view! ill try to ask around and see if it's really do-able. It'd be nice to be able to earn money while still having my baby next to me.

do you think 45mins class for around 80$ is o.k for a non-native foreign language class for kids? that's about 1/3 of what ppl usually charge. Or still too much?

Thanks again.

$80/45 mins is acceptable to me.  In fact, I'm considering to let my daughter study French in June. If you really open classes, please pm me.  See if I can join you too.
Maybe you can offer trial classes in the begining stage to test the market.
