It all depends on what do you meant by "谷"? It's a reasonable "谷" or unreasonable "谷"?
Unreasonable "谷" means :
you push your child to learn out of his/her cognitive level as children may have diversity though they are in the same class. For example, two children at the same class, one may be a "gifted" child good at Maths, but poor at communication, then he may have excellent result in Maths, but below average in Chinese or others. The we need to "push" up his potential as he is good at that, but have to address his limitation on other aspects. My son is not a gifted child, he is good at Maths and English, these two subjects appeared to be easier to cope, but Chinese will be more difficult, then I will not push too much on him on that as he will not be able to "get" it, but I will "push" his Maths and English using extra learning materials outside school resources.
"reasonable "谷": The school avoids or denie to see the "diversity" of developmental needs of children, all push them to get 1 year higher than the usual curriculum. The "gifted" one or those cognitive level above the average may be benefited, though I do not believe in all... but the average developmental ones may be suffering...
TSL, so far, I do not see the unreasonable "谷" situation so far, that's our luck....our children will be more respecting to their school and be more enjoyable to go through their developmental stage with support and joy... |
