I think if U check BK on secondary section, the usual comment is St Stephen secondary is Band 1-low or even Band 2-top on the basis of % of  those attaining 14 marks or above in the 6 best subjects of HKCEE. But I found from the secondary school web site that in 2007/08 there were 194 students at F.4 but only 163 at F.5 - presumably they go overseas instead of taking HKCEE and this may affect the HKCEE results (positive or negative depending upon quality of students that left). Similar findings was noted  in that there were 102 at F.6 and only 71 at F.7 to sit the HKAL

In fact a parent of 2 students (1 currently at primary, 1 currently at secondary) told me that the school agreed with the parents that the curriculum will be tightened to retain the status of English secondary school.

So, as I said before if yr focus is on attainment of results of local public exam, St Stephen may not be the best choice but on the other hand if yr focus is on all-round personal development then St Stephen is yr choice esp if U plan to send yr kids to study abroad which emphasis balanced development.

Tks for your info.
But, in fact, what is the % of students getting 14 marks or above, in 6 subjects, then? for those students remaining in St stephen sec school?

anyone know?

Dear BK friends and parents,

I know that any direct comparison will be difficult and subject to bias... but, if you have offers from both the St Paul's Boy and St Stephen, and presumably both parents of both schools may send their children overseas, which school, in your opinion, is better academically?

I am aware that both schools have very solid programs for an all-round development of students.:)

The previous and current HKCEE results may not be relevant for predicting the future 10 years' performance for SSC.

Because two years ago, SSC has transformed to DSS and most of its preparatory school's graduates perferred to continue their study in SSC (for the alignment of curricula and mission). Before that, many graduates might opt for other secondary schools/international schools/overseas study.

With DSS mode, the facility and resources of course are quite different.
