有沒有人用了Disney Wxxxd教材全沒果效?

My son (almost 18 months) started to watch their programs at 12 months, but so far I never heard him speak a English word.  So I would like to know how your boy/girl responses to this.

小兒在8 個月大開始用, 而家5歲, 無用好耐, 但仍然感得此教材唔錯(除了價錢), 至於兩位小朋友可能還細未有表現給你們看, 只要留意他平時的反應, 如跟着做動作, 或在洗澡時唱 baby in the bathtub看看他能否一起拍水等, 此教材除了教英文外, 還可以讓孩子學到其他東西, 如分享, 認顏色, 數數字等, 就如小兒未夠兩歲就識分左右, 不是刻意訓練, 都是從歌曲中學習。此教材凑效與否要看小朋友年紀, 如果小孩子太大才用, 他們已有自己的喜好, 或對非母語的節目抗拒, 那麽成效自然減低, 像小兒現在只會看他自己選擇的VCD及卡通了，因教材對他來說已沒新鮮感, 但起碼他可以自己觀看英文節目及不抗拒英文, 我巳覺得值了(註:我們是廣東話家庭連工人亦是印傭)。 現在我把教材給我姪女用, 效果唔錯, 剛2歲巳能跟着一起唱了, 既然花了金錢, 就要好好利用呀!

Hi everyone,

My child is 2 yrs and 5 mths, she has used it for 5 mths.  She love to watch the DVD and always follow the children to sing and dance.  On the other hand, my friend's child is 5 yrs old and he is not interested in watching the DVD.  I just think the whole programme is much more useful if you can use it when your child is young.

But they are really expensive, so I purchased the used one from my friend.

Many thanks for all experienced users / mothers.  I feel better now (you know it is really expensive!!!).  By using this materials, I also hope to induce his interest on the English language so that he won't be so reluncant on using 2nd language.

I purchased the DWE for my babies when they were 4 months old.  I started with the CDs only, i.e. stories, play-along and sing-a-long, bedtime song and wake-up song.  I played 5 talk-along cards every night at that period.  When my babies became 8 months old, I started to let them watch the DVD of play-along and sing-along.  They loved them very much.   I didn't let them watch the main program until they were 1 years old.  I don't have a time-table to follow and just play anyone of the DVD everyday.  I always forgot to play the talk-along cards with my babies.  It was a mess anyway.  

My babies didn't talk much, neither Cantonese nor English, before 2 years old, and then, they started to go to N1 class.  Just in 2 months, they started to talk a lot in English. It's amazing since teachers and classmates speak Cantonese in the N1 class, I don't know why they talk in English.  

After that I found they learn to speak English from DWE very fast.  It might be because they had been listening to all those stories or songs, they are actually very familiar with the words/sentenses.  So, it is easy for them to pick up the sentence.  They always repeat the sentense when the hear it from the program.  I start to think that the $3xxxx is worth to invest.  Frankly, I also doubt if DWE is useful before.  I wish I will find DWE worth to buy later.

Many mothers said that once the kids reach to 3 years old, they show no interest to any DWE materials because they've learnt a lot of new things from the school.  So we better take this good opportunity (0-3 years) to make use of this materials.  After 3, it might become useless.  :wink:

我個囡囡自五個月大已開始用DWE, 到歲半已懂唱全首abc song, 明顯比同期沒有睇碟的bb係識多d野. 但到二歲左右, BB開始睇碟唔集中, 走來走去, 加上我工作非常忙的關係, 幾乎有數個月晚上不在家(回到家她已睡了), 又無碌CARD, 又無睇DWE碟(佢開始DWE以外的碟, 中文為多). 佢現在已三歲, 有感進度緩慢. 所以本人覺得成效是在於家長能付出多少.

It is depend on how you make use of this program and how you teach your kids.  Although those salesperson emphasized that you will only need to play to disc every day, then, your kids will learn it naturally, you still need to assist them to act as a listener. They will ask you once they don’t understand the content.  

In fact, my son likes listening the songs very much. In order to let him learn more from the program, and make it more interesting, I even change the meaning of the song by myself. Such as

Look up! The sun is shinning, the birds are singing, the sky is blue. There’s no a cloud in the sky, it’s a beautiful day for a picnic. (this is the original and I will only sing it with my son in the daytime)

Until nighttime, I will sing..

Look up! The moon is shinning, the birds are sleeping, the sky is dark. There’s no a cloud in the sky, it’s a beautiful night for your sleeping.

Well, just make the program more interesting, then, your son will appreciate to watch it.

Yes, good idea!

So mothers... all your babies use English as their mother language after they started to use DWF materials in their early stage?  In fact, my objective is not like that.  I don't want my son looks like a ABC.  If he can speak like a British when he needs to be, it would be good enough.  He doesn't need to speak English to other Chinese; otherwise, he might have communication problem with his friends when he is getting older.

我都唔係好努力咁跟住個說明書去比個仔用嘅媽咪...
我個人認為,
跟得到就最理想啦,
但跟唔到都唔緊要,
比得幾多佢睇得幾多,
唔好以為小朋友唔講比你聽就等於學唔到野,
佢只係未識表達比你知姐,
到佢識嗰時呀,
你日日有驚喜呀!!

真係好開心嫁~
你比d耐性添啦~!!

This DWF sounds so "神奇", like Mickey mouse's magic wand.  I seldom tell friends / colleagues / relatives I got this DWF as some of them feel that I am a mother who is so demanding and nervous.  Some of them don't agree with this DWF as they don't think it worths.  Honestly, I don't mean to make my son like a ABC, I just hope that he won't afraid of English as his 2nd language and feel more easy to use this language when he is getting older.  You know HK students are shy to speak English because they have the pride and worry that people would laugh at him.
