My son is in grade 1, as my husband and I don't speak Putunghua, we don't know how to teach him...

Do you know any good Putunghua class in Shatin area? Please let us know!

I don't think that it is neccessary.
Trust your kid, he could do it. No need any help.

Well if you both do not speak mandarin and he could still go to PK, then your son must be good. Trust him, kids learn really fast.

By the way, my son is applying for p1 this year and he does not speak mandarin either. Can you tell me what language they used during interview? I really want my son to get in to learn good mandarin and English.

Thank you for your reply!

My son used to attend a Putunghua class in Tseung Kwan O. And it was very close to our old apartment.

But we moved to live in Shatin this summer because we don't want our little boy to spend too much time on travelling.

Actually his Putunghua is not very good and he has started telling me that he does not want to learn Putunghua...and it makes me worry a bit

Actually, my son also haven't attend any Putunghua class before. After one year, (he is G2 now) he already can listen what the teacher said and I brought him to Beijing during H1N1 holiday, he can listen and speak a lot too. I think you don't worry so much, trust your child as the other parents said.

Don't worry your kid. They can pick up very fast. Otherhand, you have to consider whether the parents need to attend PTH lesson.

I have a Chinese dictionary - 金山詞霸
you can buy and use it in your computer, 有真人發聲(PTH).

My PTH is ok, because I always travel to China, but I still need it sometimes.

I know someone lives in Sha Tin Wai teachinng PTH for $660/10 session, each session is 1.5 hr, very worthy.
My son is not learning PTH from her, but I'm learning paper cutting from her.
