I agree 世襲 is not fair. Especially if that is a good school, many parents will feel this is unfair. But as parents, it is more convenience to both both kids in the same school. Imagine if you have 2 kids and they go to different schools, and in the morning they get on different school buses at the same time, and you will have trouble bringing them to school. Same for picking them up. That why although it is unfair. I support this 世襲 rules.
I have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. At first, my girl cannot get an offer from her brother's kindergarten. I was so worry because they both go to school at the same time and the school bus stations are far away. I wrote so many letters to the school, and luckily she get an offer finally, I was so relief.
I agree that DBSPD may be giving us false hope only. This is indeed a very good way to turn away those lower-quality or less-preferred candidates with connection. Even if the fathers or brothers were old boys, depending on how they performed at school, DBS may not wish to admit their sons/younger brothers en bloc. So the likely result of the switch in policy is that a small portion of candidates with connection may not be selected for 2nd interview while the school doesn't need to explain (or seem to be indebted) to their old boys. But once those connected boys get into 2nd round, the reality is that they will get 10 solid points more than the others which almost surely guarantee them an admission ticket.
