My child is in S1 this school year. The DSS that he is studying now has a new rule that exclude piano from the list the of instrument.
This is my situation -
My kid is not particular good in music and he has been learning piano for 6 years (will attemp level 6 exam soon). I was hoping he can pass level 8 by S3. With this new rule, he may be forced to learn a new instrument.
Besides this, I still have another son studying in the Primary section of the same school
where piano is still an approved music instrument for P2 to P6 students. This new rule will affect all P2-P6 primary students who are learning piano now and plan to enroll in the secondary school in the future.
I think the school policy is ridiculous.
I guess you understand the amount of money, time and effort we have spent in providing instrument lesson for the kids and making it a routine for them. Not every child is good musician.
For my case, I don't think learning two instrument is an option. He comes home at 5:00 or 6:00pm depending on ECA activities.
So my only option it to quit piano or negotiate with the school for exemption.
My other concern is whether I should stop my younger son from learning piano now and pick a new instrument.
I will update the outcome after I discuss with the school.

To be honest, I do not mind to let her try both at the same time. I am just ...
