There are many Summer camp in Toronto. Not sure what you are looking for.

However, these summer camp are usually for local people, i.e. they do not have any residence and expect you to go home at end of day.

Do you have a place to live in Toronto? If not, there are not that many summer camps here which may accomodate your needs.

thks f yr reply. we wl hv place to live. it doesn't matter for us. any kind of program except sport coz i want to let them have some overseas experience in summer. don't waste time in watching TV or sleeping. pls give me some info, thks. btw r u in toronto now?

I live in Toronto and my elder daughter is now 5. There are many camps in Toronto and I am not sure what you are looking for, Science camp, french camp, horse back riding and activities camp etc. Most importantly, what your budget is.

I thought your kids are 5 and 9. Didn't you look for summer camps for 5 and 9?

sorry to make u confused. actually one is my daughter and other one is my sister's son. we r looking for same thing.

i am checking web sites now and let my daughter see. she seems doesn't feel comfortable with white people. hmm.... make me headache!

Tell your daughter no worry la.

If you go to summer camps in Markham or Richmond Hill, half of the kids will be chinese, though they speak mainly english.  There are sooo many Canadian born Chinese (CBC) here and your daughters for sure will not feel left out.

Just like my daughter, she speak fluent Cantonese at home, but once at a school she speak fluent English.  She actually speak English most of the time, and I have a hard time getting her to speak Chinese only.

Also, there are a lot of community based summer camps in Markham and Richmond Hill and they are cheaper too.  There catalog for the summer will not be out till spring 2008.

I will keep you posted if you are interested.

Do you know any summer school in Toronto area that would provide boarding as well? :)

My girl joined the GreenAcres horse back riding camp last year and she liked it very much. The coming summer holidays I want her to go to a boarding school so that there's no need to bother our relatives.

I am not that familiar with boarding summer camp, though I once was a boarding student here in Toronto long time ago.

Hi Goody,
First of all, I have not been to nor do I know anyone who have been to any of the following camps. I guess since my kids are young, overnight camp is just not a topic among my social group. But I know it is quite popular among the local Canadians (especially those like tanamakoon and camp warden).

The other thing you need to know is that Overnight camps are always AWAY from Toronto, minimum 1-2 hrs drive from the city. Not sure if you are comfortable with such idea, though I found one (lakefieldcamp) which offers city residential summer camp.

Since your kid is a girl, I suggest the followings:

There are many residential others which is not in Toronto, but dispersed into different parts in Ontario.

Sorry for bother you. I also looking for the summer camp for my daughters. (11, 8 and 3), we do not have relatives in Canada, actually, I am now studying yr information of the summer camp you posted. Is it easy to hire flats in toronto or vancover, is it expensive. Actually, I plan to have my daughter go to boarding school in F1, (she is P5 now), so this summer, we want to go to Canada to take a look. Thanks ! Have a good day !

Hi Salina,
I do not pay much attention to the real estate market here in Toronto, therefore, I cannot really tell you if it is easy to hire a flat/apartment here in Toronto, just for the summer.  You can ask those moms in Canada Mommy Club and perhaps more of them can help you.

I studied at a boarding school 20 years ago when I first came to Canada.  I recommend private girl schools with boarding because they are of better quality in terms of environment and peace of mind.  Their academic will probably the same as some good public schools.  For sure they will be much better than those "so-so" public schools.

For these private girls schools are expensive.  Last time I looked at them for other mom in BK, I found that for a Visa student, their tuition+boarding is about CAD$40K-50K per year per child.  That's a lot of money.

For summer camps, there are lots of day-camp here.  Overnight camps are usually away from Toronto.

not sure what do you want to learn here in Toronto. ProMusic in Markham has piano lessons. Yamaha Music Gallery at Yonge and Steeles has piano lessons and there are many many private teachers too.
