My son was born on December 15th, 2004 and is currently at K2. He transferred to his sister's school today and passed the K3 interview and test. But the teacher said he is the smallest in his class and advise me to let him retake K2. She left the choice to us whether he should do K3 or K2. He will be 4 years and 9 months if he starts K3. Is this too early? How should I decide? Anyone?

我覺得你仔仔repeat K2好D。因我識得有個家長，個女女是12月尾出世，當時她入讀幼稚園時校長叫佢repeat K2(佢是轉校生）但佢媽咪拒絕咗，覺得女女讀到就沒有問題。

但今年佢K3畢業，好多私校唔收細女，但佢又抽不到好學校，最慘是佢覺得有其他同班小朋友蝦佢女女（因有D真係相差成年），佢怕到小學後情況更嚴重，所以佢打算俾女女repeat K3，但原校無位，又好似下年無得再大抽獎，所以佢好後悔和煩。

而且我覺得男仔比女仔發展得更慢，所以你都係諗清楚。我有朋友個仔仔10月出世，佢都話遲D入學好D。

如果一心係考私校/直資,我會repeat K3.

之前我聽囡囡個校長在同另一位家長講細仔應該repeat K3比較好, 因為K1同K2係比較淺,但一上到K3就會好深,因為要銜接小一課程,就算第一年K3成績唔好,第二年可以追上.

Hi,
My little boy is just exactly the same as yours. He is X'mas boy and now in K2. He is having a hard time to catch up with the class in the last semester (and it goes even worse when comparing with the girls in the sme age).....especially when it comes along with the writing/ spelling / Maths parts. But as I decided to put him into the IS system (ESF), I don't mind it. IF you are considering to put your boy into the main stream system, retaking K2 would be a good idea. Just let him having more time to develop a better communication/ fine motor skill. There is nothing to lose.....don't forget they are having a LONG LONG school life, do not worry about adding 1 more year on it.

I think he can continue his primary school in the same school with its own kindergarten. However, I am thinking about his confidence level in a class if he is the smallest. He may not fully enjoy what is going on... sigh~ tough decision anyway.

why is study life so difficult now in Hong Kong? shouldn't kindergarten be a good time to play? now we parents need to think repeating a child's study. it is hard to be a student these days... thanks for your advice anyway.

我囝囝都係12月尾,09/10會升K2,囝囝幼稚園都唔淺傢,我都有問過老師佢跟唔跟到,有無需要REPEAT,老師都話唔使,佢絕對跟得上就,老師重話佢學術上完全跟得上,只係細仔小肌肉差一點,寫字方面"可能"無咁好,但到大一點就會有所改善,只要佢肯寫.
重有上星期我帶囝囝去同學仔之生日會,個位同學仔有個K3之哥哥是同一幼稚園的,因此同學仔媽咪係請了他學校K3及K1之小朋友,我見囝囝係鍾意同D K3哥哥姐姐一齊玩多過同自己班同學仔玩,咁即係同D大過佢的小朋友一齊到唔一定會存在會比人蝦的情況出現啦,比人蝦係好睇一齊玩個D小朋友性格同老師點教,我反而覺得做細仔比到佢有推動力唔好差過D大仔,大仔講野叻我地D細仔重可以有樣學樣咪重好,大仔各方表現好D,我地D做細仔咪有好大的進步空間

我覺得你可以直接問問學校覺得你既小朋友比較適合讀k2/k3,原因係班中的細仔,並不代表能力一定比人差;而因為每間幼稚園的課程都有唔同,唯有學校既老師及行政人員會最清楚小朋友應該讀咩班最好.....

我大囡同你仔仔係同年同月& 同日出世, 我囡囡今年9月會升k3, 我無打算比佢repeat,因為我覺得佢能力ok喎 ! 雖然佢係全班最細, 但佢成績好好, 今個學期仲考第3名. 佢一定可以考到好啲小學架. 我細囡都係12月出世啲細b, 今年9月會入讀協恩幼稚園k1, 我對佢都好有信心架 !
你仔仔向邊間醫院出世架 ? 我囡囡向東區醫院.

我仲以為你大女升左協恩小學, 原來係你細女讀協幼, 咁你大女係咪仲係約克度讀呀? 但係約克為非本地課程, 會否對佢升小學有影響呢? 你大女係讀約克的中英文幼稚園, 定係英文幼稚園呀. 你兩個女都好叻, 細女仲考到協幼添. 係咪都係遞表interview咁咋. 仲有, 你個女女好得意好靚呀. ^^
