There are so many graduates from St. Cat each year and it is not difficult for getting into this school. In fact not most of them could enter the elite schools. The tuition fee is nearly double of Pui Ching and Pui Ching could enjoy the govt subsidy.
You could use the difference of tuition fee for learning Eng, Mandarin etc.
If your child studied well in Pui Ching, you could also try those elite 直資小學. If not, Pui Ching Primary is also a very good school with good school net for high school at Kowloon City.
However, if your target is DGS or DBS, you better stay at St Catherine and try Christ church Kinter at K2 so as increasing your chance for entering such schools.

The fact is-most of their Eng teacher of Primary school could speak very fluent English. They have nearly 100% passing rate for Eng in HKCE.
If mandarin and English is your first priority, Pui Ching is not your cup of tea. I believe all parents in Pui Ching including those professionals and teachers have their own reasons for having their children studying here. We believe all round development for children is the most important factor. Also, we don't have elite class for students from K1 to P6. Most of the students are studying happily and want to stay at Pui Ching Middle school. It is difficult for parents to convince them to choose other high schools.
My son also admitted by St. Cat and Pui Ching in 1999 but we decided to choose Pui Ching at last. The main reasons might be Pui Ching has their own Primary and Secondary Education as well as the school spirits is well-known in Kowloon City. If I choose St. Cat, the English standard might be better than Pui Ching. As Pui Ching Kindergarten have the priority to enter PCPS at P1 so that we give up St. Cat. Now, my son is studying at PCMS at Form 1…..
If studys at St. Cat, you might have the chance to enter Top Band 1 Primary School. But if you fails, you have to choose other lower rank Primary School. For safety sake, I eventually select PCPS.
He enjoys a happy school life in Pui Ching Secondary now and he likes to study here much.
Let me share my experience with you. My son is K2 in Pui Ching, I think this school is good . Child is happy in his school. For English & Mandarain, I think it cannot rely on the school teacher. Child can learn after school. We attend the Eng class and have some St.Cat friends, not all speak good English.
My son got admittion to dream KG , call CxxG, we finally decided to stay at Pui Ching K2 because my son is not reluctant to change it and they cannot guarantee the place in P1. After we consider the tution fee between $3,000 & $750, we gave up the offer.
If you spent the money for Eng class, total may be same as St. Cat. however, the ratio of Eng class is 1 : 6 or 8, compared with St. Cat. what is the student ratio, hope this info can help you.
其實我自己本人覺得學業成績係重要, but 全人發展更加應該重視. 我為大碼仔揀培正係一來佢比較活躍, 需要有一定規律. 太 free, 太自己係唔 ok. 加上培正著重品德培育, 亦訓練學生獨立, 這些都係我喜愛培正嘅地方. 亦係用錢衡量 / 買唔到. 重有一點就係培正學生對學校有一種尊重同強烈嘅歸屬感,我自己覺得對小朋友成長都好重要. 最後就比較現實, 培正舊生網絡咁強, 咁第時出嚟升學又好, 做嘢又好, 都或者有幫助.
我比 d 測驗 paper 同其他學校比較, 其他家長話培小 d 程度一 d 都唔淺. 另有 d 教育界朋友同我講, 係培正讀得掂都唔會差得去邊, 所以, 成績上我一 d 都唔擔心.
parent need to consider their child's ability before choosing school.
If your child is so luckily to get in like DBS, Salle however their child is not so smart... you and your child will crazy at the end..
