Dr David Elkind is quite a famous writer (professor in psychology) in child development. One of his famous books is "The Hurried Child". It described a lot of phenomenon about a child going to a lot of "classes" with a full daily schedule (actually going to different classes is also found in US, and Dr Elkind tried to explain why that happens and gave his view of the negative impact the overschedule might bring to child". Another of his books I read is "The power of play". This is a more recent book (2007) and you can get much insights of the use of "play" in child development.

1.  Generally, You can order them from amazon, or order through big bookstore.  The two are still published.  If you have friends in US, you can ask them to buy them (or even used books) for you.  It saves a lot of postage.

2. "The Hurried Child" is written long time ago.  You may try a local library.

3.  "The power of play" -- I wonder it may be easy to borrow in a local library.
