Hi,

I am new here. My daughter was in Jan 2008. I know she is not ready for K1 till 2011. But, I do really want to plan the path for her.

My target is ESF Kinder TY then DC.

Any DC parents here? Any from Sham Tseng ? I know the last stop of outbound school bus service is Bellagio. I saw the bus a few times too. But, will it take very long from Sham Tseng to Discovery Bay?

here is the school bus info from DC:

so it takes 25 mins from Bellagio to DC, as it claimed.

If you are targeting at ESF TY then DC, I suggest you read both of their website to get more more info:

Sorry for not sharing with u coz i'm not a DC parent (I'm just one,probably near the end, on the long waiting list there).
I suggest you may need to think aboutmoving closer to DB (or simply move to DB) seriously if u can get a place therebecause u are talking about 12 years education.
From my experience living in DB for years, living in DB and studyingin DC will be so much fun but spending hours in travelling would be notvery interesting for our little one...

Looks like from Sham Tseng to DB is not that far away (it said 25 mins), at least not like from TKO to MOS when I was originally considering RC.... of course for 4-5 years old kids traveling on highway (@110KM/H) is still a lot, and to parents too.....

The problem with school buses is that, it is totally dependent on the route they are using.

There are cases everywhere that children that live geographically closer to school are travelling longer on a school bus to other children that live geographically futher away.

And, school bus companies do change a lot with their routes.

Thanks for both of your reply.

I browse through both web site too. One of the reason that I am considering DC as the journey looks not too far (25mins) from Bellagio as it claimed. I thought of RC before. But, it will be definately more than 25 mins from Bellagio to RC. I thought of moving to DB. But, it doesn't work for my husband as he will need to have some day trip to China for his work.

By the way, is DC implementing IB too?

Lots of ppl are talking about RC here. But, are DC and RC cirriculum the same since there are both the only 2 private IS of ESF?

Yes, DC is also using IB too

That's what I thought too.

Apart from soak my daughter in full english enviroment, I can do nothing for now as she is still too young (15 months old). The path is still long way to get there at P1.

put her in ESF kinder if you can, but not sure where you lived. then think of what you can do. yes it is a long way to go. Once you get there life will be a bit easier... for academic concern only....good luck! Add Oil!

As per my understanding, the only outbound school bus route is Mei Fo <=> Lai King <=> Tsing Yi <=> Sham Tseng at Bellagio <=> DC.

I afraid you will have to find your way to be there at Mei Foo for the school bus service. But, that will be quite early . It's around 7:10am as that's the 1st stop of picking up.

I am planning to put her in ESF Kinder Tsing Yi as that is so close to Sham Tseng plus it's my ideal kinder too. The competitive was so keen in the past few years as all applicant over NT and Kowloon were targeting this kinder for ESF Primary path. But, I do hope it will be better by the time my daughter apply in year 2010 as there is a ESF kinder at WKS now where that can at least sort out those applicants from Shatin and Kowloon East.

Yes, it is a wise decision. As a cat. 2 applicants, the only method to increase chance for an interview by ESF primary or DC is going to ESF Kinda.
As popolung and I always emphasize, ESF kinda may not be the best kinda in town (in fact, there are many demerits that have already been stating by other parents) but they can give u "real" priority to other Cat. 2 children from non-ESF kinda (historical hit rate and so-called "relation" with ESF are just an illusion).
Once u have got an offer, why not moving to Tsing Yi? (that is what i am doing now.)

Yes, but no matter Cat 1 or Cat 2, put your kids in ESF kinder will give you a better priority to have interview in ESF primary school. And successful or not will depends on your kids' English capability. But at least you have a chance to have interview is better than others already.

For ESF application other than Y1 & Y7 you can call ESF and apply anytime, see if they have any vacancy.
