18 months, BB is old enough to understand simple instructions, like tidy up, sit down, clap hands, jumping, painting, wash hand, etc. They can really follow what's the tutor teach and benefit from the class.
Below that age is wasting $.

Thanks for your reply!
Actually, my baby goes to day nursery everyday, and she will go there until she is 2-yrs old. I think the day nursery centre will also teach her some techniques and disciplines too. Then do I need to join other playgroup?

I think it's unnecessary. I suppose the day nursery centre has taught her many things already.

However, if you find any area missing in the day care, you can find the relevant playgroup for her.

I would rather save the $ for interest class after 2/ 2.5 yrs old.

Dear All

It has been proven that a baby can hear and distinguish sounds when they are 18 weeks old in mother's womb. My niece is now 5 mths old and he attends class with 4 other babies taking English classes and Mandarin. As far as how old is concerned, the younger the better (Read Glenn Doman's books). All children are born genius, it is only because of the adult's neglect of their talent that turn them ordinary.

I would suggest that you all go to the education section of BBC on the web and read more about baby's learning abilities before making up your mind in the absence of proper research.

I watched on the Learning Channel that some mothers in US and UK start pre-natal learning as young as when they are 4 months pregnant with wonderful results.

It is hard to find the playgroup for babies under 6 months old. Any suggestion? We (2004年6月bb會's moms) want to organize our own playgroup).

My baby joined playgroup after her 6 month's injection. Under 6 months, you may concern the Kindermusik.

my bb starts to join when he was 12 months.
He already knew how to observe and learn from the surroundings at that time.

At first, I would like to start when he was 10 months, this is the time when he starts to crawl and expore the world. However, I was too busy to attend the playgroup at that time. So, that's why we join during 12 months.

He is 16 months now, we went there once a week. He remembered the place and all the toys.

little dynamites in causeway bay has ignition program for babies from 4mths up. weekend classes are quite full.
My b joined when 5 mth old. she really enjoys it.

In my opinion, playgroup is just a way to let the carer and their baby to have a sharing time for play, relationship and trust building, and intimacy. It is different from in the nusery to train them more independent. so anytime can join the playgroup if you don't know the way to play with your baby and it is a specific time for your baby to play and learn with you under supervision.

Off course, everychild are born genius. Do not join playgroup in 5 mths doesn't mean parents are neglecting their child's talent.

If we really read and understood Glenn Doman's theory, we should know that Parents are the first teachers of their own kids.

Everybody has freedom to choose their own method. Why must join playgroup

When to join, join or not is your own decision
