The Effectivness of Native English Teacher on Children's English language???

Dear Parents,

I am sorry to bother you. As we all aware that there is a big demand on NETs in Hong Kong recently, I would like to see if they do have effectiveness on Kindergarten Children. (i.e. Is that worst to enroll our children in a preschool setting with NETs?) May I spend you 5 mintues to complete the questions below if you would like to participate on my study. Your participation will be greatly appreicated.

Please indicate with a short-form the extent to which the following statements are true of your value at the present time.

Very strongly Disagree = VD
Strong Disagree = SD
Disagress           = D
Agree                 = A
Strong Agree      = SA
Very Strongly Agree = VA

1. A child’s reading and writing capabilities in English can be improved if he/ she regularly uses English in the daily environment.       

2. A child’s speaking and listening capabilities in English can be improved if he/ she regularly uses English in the daily environment.       

3. Native English teachers do better in teaching English than non-native English teachers.        

4. A child’s English capability is better than others if he/she is provided with native English teachers.       

5. Children can enroll in better primary schools if they have higher standards of spoken English.       

6. English spoken with American, British or Australian accents is better than non-accented English.       

7. An educated person should be able to speak fluent English.        

8. People who have high English standards tend to be more knowledgeable than others.       

9. A person with pronunciation close to that of native English speakers has an edge in competing against others.        

10. I am proud to enroll my child in a school that provides native English teachers.

I personally view that it doesn't matter ever the english teacher is NET or not, the most important element is he/ she should like children, have related qualifiation and experience. As I found in my experience on my sister in law, she studied in one of the local eng kindergarten and her teacher was chinese. However, she speaks fluent English. So don't be racise.

employ one native speaker to exclusively
teach kids English lessons

you sure her English lesson teacher
is a Chinese too ?
it become rare today.

Yes, there is a hugh demand on NETs in the last few days and that's the reason I would liketo see their effectiveness on the young children. would you mind to spend you 5 mintues to participate in my questionnaire as mentioned above?

This is only an opinion survey, measuring respondents' opinion about children's learning or perception about native english teachers.  From the questions, you cannot measure the effectiveness of them on the children's language ability.

What is the study for, may I ask?

Thanks for your reply. This is only one of the research instructment in my study.

Since this study sought to find out the effectiveness of Native English Speakers on children’s pronunciation of the English language, the target population was preschoolers. Twenty kindergarten children (twelve males and eight females) whose are aged from five to six years participated. All of them come from non-English speaking countries such as Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. Ten of them are enrolled in an international kindergarten where English is the medium of instruction while the rest are enrolled in a local school where Cantonese and Mandarin are used in delivering lessons.

The study consists of three data collection procedures – a pronunciation test with the use of an English word Pronunciation List (EWP), a semi-structured interview with the class teachers and a questionnaire as I have mentioned.
