hi parents,

I want to ask the languages used in the class, like students have to speak mandarin in chinese lesson but how about other lessons like science, chinese history or maths, do they use cantonese? or the students in the class are only allowed to use english and mandarin? Thank you.

By the way, i love this school and i hope that my kid(s) can be a student of it.

優小以中文為主要教學語言, 而優中就以英文為主; 响高小階段, 就係過渡期, G5/G6漸漸加多英文教學節數, 直至中學以英文為主要教學語言。

從G2開始, 中文課用普通話教學, 直至G12都係咁。

從G1開始, 英文堂用纯英語教學( NET + 本地老師)。

其他科目, 小學用粵語為主, 而中學就以英語為主。

優才既英文課程係點呀？英文程度高嗎？

1) 優才雖然是中文小學, 但仍然非常注重英文教學, 目標是培育中、英兩文三語, 都達到高水平的學生
2) 除英語科外, 其他科目, 基本上以中文上課
3) 一週有8堂英文堂, 其中5堂由本地老師教, 其余3堂由NET(英語為母語老師)老師上
4) 從小一開始, 所有英文堂, 包括本地老師, 都以全英語上堂
5) 採用國際英文課本, 程度較本地課程高1至2級
6) NET老師教授Phonics, Reading 及Writing
7) 所有本地英文老師都是大學英文本科畢業, 全部通過語文基準試, 部份更都到嘉許狀(Certificate of Merit)
8) 有8位NET老師, NET/學生比例约1比80
9) 小三级由NET担任班主任, 增加學生英語沟通机會
10) 小二、小三級, 所有英文堂(8堂)由NET教授
11) 部份才華部以英語進行
12) 小四開始, 增益課以英語教授
13) 每週有一日早會, 以英話進行
14) 每年有2個英文週, 另外舉辨英語Halloween 及 Christmas party
15) 老師挑選英語資優生, 於課後上加強課程
16) 小一開始選派學生, 參加校際英文朗誦此賽, 由NET對參實學生指導, 有十幾人拿到優異獎p(Certificate of Merit)
17) 所有小五學生考Cambrigde Flyers Exam, 有97%合格(10盾或以上), 其中有21%滿分(15盾) - ( 06年 )

  P6 and summer bridging course have been developed
  to help students learn in English
- both teachers and students demonstrate satisfactory
  capability in using English as the medium of instruction
- students can communicate effectively with their
  teachers and peers in both spoken English and Chinese
- various reading schemes, reading periods and
  timetabled morning reading sessions are adopted to
  cultivate students’ reading interest
- the libraries provide good support for promotion of
  reading & most students enjoy a habit of reading

Also, is there any remedial class to assist students with difficulty in learning English and mandarin?
