There are a lot of alternatives to international schools. There are quite a number of "hybrid" new local schools (private or DSS) that serve local children. They are extremely popular amongst local parents who want something other than traditional local education, and yet do not feel comfortable with a total English environment. To name a couple, Pui Kiu and PLK CKY are two of such kind of schools. Cantonese would be the main language of use in those schools and I believe such school would be more suitable for you.

Good luck.

I think it is just a kind of culture shock : ))

It is not a matter of studying in IS or local stream but is the charcater and the culture you are towards much.

I know a number of US & EU friends, and those in IS who are also conservative and has a strict moral principle as the majority of the Asian.

As parents, what I and my husband can do is to let her know the pros and cons of each culture and the conduct, and the consequences she need sto bear.

Just my two cents.
