I was an exchange student to US when I was 16. I learnt fluent native American English there.
Now, I don't speak English to my girl very often. Her English teacher at school speaks English with her in Kindergarten, but with Hong Kong accent. So whenever I heard her speaking HK accent, I would correct her.
Recently, my girl was fantastic about the movie "Enchanted", she kept watching the movie for a few times, then she remember some of the dialogue. She could perform the dialogue in the actress's accent.
So I think little kids's hearing is so sensitive that they learn language quickly.
Anyway, even though you don't speak native English, it's no harm speaking English with your kid as long your grammer is OK. |
