1) Putonghua is usually taught by the teachers themselves. But the standard is not low at all. In fact, I find the level of Putonghua in SH am better than that at my son's school.
2) There is no elite class system in SH am. The girls will be mixed every year into different classes so that they can make friends with everyone.
3) There are 6 classes in SH Sec every year. Becos' SH am has different no. of classes in every standard (eg. last year's P6 = 3 classes), the number of applicants admitted into SH Sec would vary every year. But like Sindy said, the % will be relatively high.
Logos and SH am will be very different in their teaching approaches which cannot be disputed. Bear in mind that parents from Logos have said that they are expected to put in lots of time and energy to keep in pace with their kids, in terms of projects and studies.
Also, the 2 schools are in different locations. You might want to consider if your kid can tolerate the travelling to either school depending on your residence.
