有無小朋友本身講中文, 入讀劍鳴後(n1), 在日常英語溝通方面明顯進步很多呢? 他們讀上午定下午(國際)班呢?

I talk to my son in cantonese since he was a baby. He was in morning session last year and now he is in K2 international and he is able to communicate in English and Putonghua. However, you cannot expect the school to teach the children everything, they only spend three hours at school. As parents, we need to teach our children when they are at home.

Thanks for your sharing. The school is really good at teaching language. Yes, agreed, parents' effort is essential.

Do you mean you son was studying in am ENG/ Cantonese class in K1 and then changed to ENG/PUT in K2?

Can you share why you made such change? and do you think the international is much better in language?

Sorry for so many Qs. I have registered int'l class K1 for my son and thinking if it's possible to change to am as he gets use to am schedule.

great if you can share your experience.

My son will attend N1 pm this year.

May I know if K1 international (English and Putonghua) gets both am and pm session? or only pm session?

i attended the n1 interview a few weeks ago & spoken with a few volunteer mothers from K2 who's children all studied in PM class.

They point out the following:
1. children learn better chinese in PM class since there is "白話" in Putonghua.
2. children about able to speak putonghua (for example at home) once they reach K2 since they are asked to speak putonghua in class.
3. don't expect KM to teach like REAL international school cause it's not. they only call PM class "international" cause it doesn't use cantonese.
4. the children will learn and speak english regardless you enter AM or PM class.

I know Victoria also offer english/putonghua class but it's only available to native Putonghua families (or those families have 1st priority).

Sorry sorry, very important...
one of the mother also mentioned:
last year when her son attended K1 PM class, there were about 20 children in class with 2 NET teacher. During class, when children need to practice speaking english/ putonghua. 1 teacher will take away 10 children into another classroom (while the other remain in the same classroom with the rest of the children) to practice so each child have more chances to speak.

Finally, from memory, the time spent on English is less is you selected AM class in K1 (any existing KM parent out there who could confirm this point???).
