My daughter has just taken the violin Grade 8 exam in April. Hopefully, she will pass this exam.

Hearsays from some moms of her classmates said that a kid can achieved Grade 5 and 8 of paino in one and three years respectively provided that the kids has already a standard of Grade 8 violin.
To get grade 8 in paino in three years is very attractive to me.

With her knowledge in violin, grateful if moms can advise how long usually will be required to study for taking the exam of Grade 5 and 8 of piano. Any advice and comment in this respect, please.

agree. and the technique is totally different.

one of my friend has a daughter very good at violin and it takes her 2 years to learn piano from nothing to G5.
She has no problem in reading the score but her hands are not quick and soft enough to achieve higher grades in piano.

So i think it really takes time to adapt to a new instrument even you don't have to spend time in learning basic skills in reading score and listening to pitches.

你女有8級小提琴的底, 學鋼琴確實係會比其他小朋友快手. 不過我諗最好唔好貪快, 凈係睇學幾多年考到幾多級, 最重要係學到實際的技巧.

我教過轉過來的7級學生, 同你女差不多情況, 本身有另一件樂器的底, 考完5級考7級, 不過我發現他的技巧其實唔太得, 彈到7級的考試歌, 卻彈唔到一般5, 6級學生學的樂曲, 或者需要彈好一段時間先彈到.

考得快當然好, 不過我都建議你女學琴都係先學好技巧, 對以後的學習會好好多.
