我想請教考直資或私學小一, 是否會要求小朋友讀英文字呢? 即是說是否會要求小朋友識英文字的spelling 才可以呢?

小朋友睇英文書好多時都係靠phonics, 未必真係識果個字, 我女無學過phonics果時考學校唔識讀 , 老師叫佢串lor! 睇中文書佢就ok, 最後waitlist

我囡囡學校係會考小朋友看圖畫再講出英文名稱, 無要求小朋友串字.

照你咁講, d 學校咪即係考小朋友識唔識phonics 而唔係考小朋友識唔識果個英文字law??? ...

而家好多幼稚園都有教phonics, 或者家長自己出去學
學左phonics, 的確係會大大幫助閱讀能力既! 1,2 次唔識讀要靠拼, 拼多幾次自然認得個字咁lor.....(總無理由成本書個個字都靠拼既! 日子有功嘛, 學英文會快d)

我大仔間學校好似k2 下學期先教phonics, 咁大約係k2 summer time or k3 學期初就要interview 啦, 果時肯定都未學晒, 只係學左d 皮毛.
不過呢d 野都係平常心, 到時考到固 ...

我大仔E+K1.  我唸住比佢慢慢學LAW, 我覺得學任何野都須要時間, 冇速成既.  自已心急, 只會令自已同小朋友辛苦. ...

The school usually asked simple question such as how are you? how old are you? What is your name?

You don't really need to spell the word but at least you can tell the teacher and recognise what is that items/things such as a pencil, a book, etc.

An example from KTS, they asked the kid to fill in the letter of the missing word such as u_brella (umbrella) in their last years' P1 interview.

我無抽獎係因為我要hold另一間私校學位, 不過後來心儀直資收左, 我都放埋果個位喇 (蝕左留位費, 書簿費, 印刷費........好彩無蝕埋九月學費姐!)

我仔都被一間直資收左, 他的reading其實勉強ok,
要經常keep住佢睇書先得.  
面試時大多數都會要求小朋友讀一些簡單的句子或生字,
所以k1, k2時最好開始訓練睇書, 並且不要忘記睇中文書. ...
