Well, no idea about how many Eng / PTG classes this year. Only heard that there were 3 classes last year.

we're at same schedule, same campus, so we might got the chance to be same class. Hahaha,..let's see.

Hi there,

I was trying to fill in all the forms and found that yan ki has to catch the school bus at 7:47am...it's pretty early and the last stop will be at 8:28am...ie it takes 50 mins to reach the school...but i only live in Ho Man Tin....so dissapointed.....

Dear All,

Forgot to post my info... As I known, there should be 2 ENG/PTH classes in the morning and another 2 classes in the afternoon. BTW, why you choose ENG/PTH, are you good at speaking PTH? Will you communicate with your child in PTH at home ?

Will catch 8:00 am school bus at Tsing Yi, a bit worry to let such a little angel to take school bus...

We used to speak to our daughter in English since she was born and now, she's 100% speaking in Eng to us,....since she started Eng/PTG pre-nursery, we observed and tried to review the chinese book from her school in PTG to her,...quite difficult at the beginning since she used to speak Eng....
I'm forcing my hubby to talk to her more in PTG since his PTG is much better than me,...but he's very very lazy and seldom speak PTG to my daughter.

We need more patience and do it piece by piece to make my girl pick-up the PTG slowly. Since I believe children's language development is fast and easy before 6 years old, I'm very keen on providing her a Eng/PTG environment in school, that's the point for me to apply Eng/PTG in St Cat.

Let your daughter listen to those Mandarin Children's
songs day in day out. It works a bit. At least she
won't feel odd when she listens to the teachers
speaking Mandarin. Try SUN YA PUBLISHIONS (HK)
LTD.-- Mandarin CD with a set of 6 books.

My daugther is now attending a Eng/Ptg pre-nursery class everyday, her understanding of the 2 languages has improved a lot since ever...i would switch to one of the language at home sometimes to communication with her...but my mandarin is very limited...i believe it would be better for the children to learn language at their early age...so that the pronounciation is more accurate...

Where is your daugther attending the Eng/Ptg Pre-nursery Class? My daughter was offered a seat in 2008 KI Eng/Ptu pm class at SC. I am worrying about her Putonghua ability cause my wife and I seldom use Ptg at home. Please advise any prenursery class for my just 2 years old (12/2005 born) little girl. Thanks!

Just for curiosity, how did your daugther answer the Mandarin teacher during the interview..does she understand any Mandarin....Anyway, my daugther is studying in an international kinder in Kowloon Tong ...there are several international kinders in this area offering this kind of class....i believe all of them can give a good mandarin environment to your daugther if you really worry of her mandarin ability.

Thank you very much for all your golden advices. I feel very lucky to meet such high quality parents in SC. l'll try my best to provide a good environment to my daughter. You know, nothing is importance than language development !!

100% agreed !! My daughter is also studying the pre-nursery class every day but only in ENG/Cantonese, twice PTG class per week. That school only has the ENG/PTG class in K1 but in afternoon session. :cry: This is the reason why I need to apply another school and luckily we got a seat in SC and meet all my requirements - AM and ENG/PTG.

thank you so much for the info, let me get the CD.
I've also got the offer from Keenmind (international class),....in fact, the impression from interview was so nice in Keenmind. St Cat was also good.
But,..my point of consideration is:
my girl is not a very agressive girl, she's more conservative. E.g.when she find something new and interesting, she won't be the first one to approach the new "toy". She'll wait and observe, think till someone go and try first. She then go for the toy.
I'm a bit worry in St Cat's style (more corporate), will she be suffered and no one will notice and help her???

Since I'm also a Early Childhood teacher, I've a lot of students from those "renowned" kinders in Kln Tong. I fully understand the strength and weakness of those kinder's curriculum. from what i observed, St Cat's students are really very well-trained in Eng comprehension. ANd, they're all very cheerful, outgoing, and confident,...

Most probably, I'll go for St Cat, Eng / PTG since I know it's really competitive in getting this seat. And, I'd like to give my daughter a try.

I don't think you'll have to worry about if your
daughter can fit into SC or not.  SC has many
experienced teachers, especially in K1.  They will
take care of all sorts of children with different
personalities.  In k2 onwards, teachers pay more
attentions on the academic aspects.  From my
observation, SC put elder kids into one class and
the younger ones into the others.  All classes has
outgoing kids, quiet ones, shy ones, naughty ones,
brave ones, conservative ones....etc.  The teachers
do pay attention to everyone.  In k3, the teachers
like the ones who follow the classroom rules though.
