Dear All,

St Paul's Boy & Raimondi 已收咗阿仔, 但我心儀 Wah Yan, 自行收生机会低, 到6,7月就有信心, 你哋比D意見我!  博唔博好?

St. Paul's is my 2nd choice, 因為番全日制, 加上我住東區, 番學比人早, 放學都比人遲, 仲慘過我番工, 我怕佢每日放學大昏迷到dinner time, 咁就慘! 功課和溫習都在晚上, 如果佢唔同我合作, 母子又來大戰一番, 你哋話点好?

St Paul's boy afternoon lunch,  有無做功課或自修堂?

Congratulation to you getting 2 offers. For SPC, I understand there are indeed many students living in the Eastern districts. There are plenty of nanny bus routes running thro' it. So distance may not a major concern, or at least, not a concern only for you.
There are G/C lessons after lunch. For P5, there are 3 lessons a week falling on Mon, Wed & Fri pm. They can be used for doing homework. I am not sure whether there are more G/C lessons for lower grade kids.
Just some additional information for your reference.

can anyone tell me what are questions during st.paul boys interview or do we need a very detail portfolio?

No portfolio is needed. During the interview, the headmistress asked my kid the name of the kindergarden and what he learnt or played at school. What he would usually do or go on Sunday. The headmistress then gave him a picture of a garden and asked him to mention the difference between the playgound or garden. Just Q & A. Quite boring!

SPC 收阿仔, 相信是因為我老公係old boy, 因為當日阿仔interview 失準, 誇大失實, 文馬行空, 仲反問校長 – 你唔知咩? 總之激到我死, 仲冧住failed晤駛多想, 一條心等Wah Yan result, 再加叩門信, 阿仔好多同學都選了直資, forfeit Wah Yan 自行收生位, 所以覺得有机會, 但可能要等到6,7月先知result, 現在真係煩, 都唔知博唔博好? Please comments? Which one is good? 12年school fee 也是一個point!

學校與住所的距離是很需要考慮既因素, 如果真係太遠, 可能真係要好好考慮清楚

我都係住係東區, 我又唔係太擔心, 事關我個仔依家都返中環啦, 山道都唔係遠好多, 我諗都無問題既

反而你想唔想比呢6年錢 (中學可以再選資助囉) 就要好好想清楚喇

I do appreciate Mrs Chan in the selection of kids. As she said, she would like to have kids with different characters in school. Quiet, active, sportive, like reading.... I remember in another thread, Baby Yui Yui said her son even cried in the interview! What an interesting selection. This is also why I like this school - taking a liberal approach.
My situation was actually similar with you a few yrs ago. I had also chosen Wah Yan in the 1st round (15 marks). As expected, the 1st round was unsuccessful. Then SPC accepted by son. After discussion with my husband & friends, we decided to choose SPC. The reasons:
a) The academic level between the 2 is similar
b) There is much bigger guarantee for my son going to SPC secondary. Since we are working parents, this point is very important.
c) Financially we can afford it
d) The most important point is I could not bear the consequence if my son was failed in the final lucky draw!
So within only a short time, we decided to choose SPC.

This is from the words of a lucky mom and obvious may be bias. Yes, my son indeed cried during the interview (at the beginning of “tell the differences” section) and the headmistress was so gentle, patient and encouraging to led her through the aniexty and walk out her room with a sense of completion. My husband and I would never imagine that he would be “accepted”. From most people eyes (which I wouldn’t disagree as well as I, even being the Mom, would do and judge the same), crying during the interview would be an ice-breaker (he did the same during the CKY interview and thus far was not offered the 2nd interview – I am not saying that CKY is no good). People accepting kid with such behavior during the interview (for a school which has plenty of excellent choices of prospective students) must have a very “big” heart. I was really touched (not solely because I was luckily selected) and started to think perhaps this is the school for my son even if he would be accepted by DBS (thought very very slim chance). Again, in a lucky mom’s opinion, the headmistress has so much內涵, &舒服 (this impression was formed after the interview and not NOW!). I believed that school led by such a wonderful lady would be full of care and love! I’m sorry to say that I simply have not found the same ingredients from Co-edu headmistress with all the stories I heard from different parents recently having 2nd interview (pay attention to the way she speaks, she smiles, her眼角
– not difficult to tell).

多謝回應!

我最concern是車程遙遠, 1st time go to school interview, I got taxi, 又唔覺遠, 只是approx $100 taxi fee, 但last Friday went to school from my office, MTR後想轉taxi, 但又無車, 唯有搭巴士行番上學校, 條大斜路真要命, 行到我一家人死死吓, 雖然有school bus, 但擔心放學後的活動太夜難接送.

点解咁係 every week have dictation?

The swimming pool is belong to St. Pauls?
