Hi moms and pops,

I'm new here and clueless when it comes to this "waitinglist" game for IS's.  We've received a letter saying that my little one has passed the interview for reception class and is put on the waiting list for CDNIS.  I'm a bit anxious now as this is the only school we've applied for.  Does anyone here know, particularly CDNIS parents, how long the wait is.  Guess I could always call them and find out, but just want to get an idea.  Should I start applying to more schools?  Thanks, appreciate it.

my son has been rejected, the interview was on 23 Feb and i received the rejection letter on 29 Feb, how effective the school is.......my friend's kid attended the interview much earlier than my son , but no reply from the school yet.........
at least you are on the waiting list, congratulations to you anyway!

Thanks for your reply.  So sorry to hear that the school rejected your son.  Hope you'll have better luck with other schools or when you reapply.

When was the interview for your friend's child.  Ours was on the last week on Jan and we got the letter right after Chinese New Year.  Maybe your friend might be getting a place if they still haven't heard anything.

Anyway, I called the school and was told that there are about 60 kids being waitlisted and by April more places will be offered if the initial offers aren't accepted, mostly for Canadian families, which is understandable.  We're from the States.

Did you apply for any other schools or plan to?  I guess I'm going to start applying for others just in case.

Hi SFmom,

Are you applying for Grade 1 for your kid ? Do you know how many seats do they have for your kid's grade ? Is it they have to accomodate all their kindergarten students first ?

I had applied for my son for Grade 3 in 08/09. As he's born in 2000, the no. of applicants is particularly large. The admission officer said they have already got over 40 applicaants, while not sure if there's any seats available as it depends if existing Grade 2 students would drop out from the school when proceeding to Grade 3. My son's assessment will be in early April. I think even if he passes the test, there's slim chance for us to get a place. Sigh...

We applied for the Reception class.  It looks like the school's jammed with applicants this year.  Hope your child will do well in April.  We can only hope and pray...
