personal preference:
1. st paul boys / raimondi
2. st jo

but if i have two sons, i will try to get my elder son into st jo. the $ saved can be better used.

but should really tailor for your expectation/ your son's need, and i think (again, just personal view):

st paul boys - features: $$$, not harsh, through-train, your kid will be very happy and enjoy school life. other thing(s): good for christians

st jo - features: free but traditional, very harsh, very competitive, your kid and you will probably be

, however the secondary school is really a very good one.  other thing(s): good for catholics

raimondi - features: traditional, up to standard but not harsh, kids are disciplined and usually more quiet, has a secondary school but not through-train.  secondary school is good but not as good as st jo secondary. other thing(s): good for catholics

st stephen - not much info but seems far less popular/ well-known than the previous ones

i think it's already good if your son can get into any of the above said.  they are indeed all good and up-to-standard schools.

in the past when they two are government subsidy schools, i'd be more inclined to say yes.

but now i don't know - it's difficult to compare the two since the two are different types, one is government subsidy, the other is direct subsidy. we have to wait for some more years to see.

but one thing we can be sure - st paul boys (both primary and secondary) is more creative and relaxing than raimondi.

if parents who like traditional and disciplined school environment, then they would prefer raimondi than st paul boys.

I only have one son.

My personal plan would be:

- Raimondi primary then depends on his results, try to get him into St jo secondary or Kings College or QC otherwise Raimondi secondary.  Then try to get him into a local U, otherwise, an overseas U; or

- St paul boys primary and st paul boys secondary.  Then try to get him into an overseas U; or

- St jo primary and st jo secondary.  Then try to get him into a local U or an overseas U depends on his results.

To my personal experience and other comments from other parents from the same kindergarten last year. Raimondi is comparatively easy to enter.

Just apply all. Good luck.

Based on my understanding, all Band 1 students in SJPS will be directly admitted to SJC. About 50% of Band 2 students will be drawn and admitted to SJC later. The total % of P6 students in SJPS will be admitted to SJC is around 50%.

I hear say that in order to prepare for the "one dragon" policy, SJPS is planning to reduce its P1 students to ~160 to 200 from 2008/09.

That's exactly my concern : how the primary (private) bridges to its secondary (dss) if it's gonna be a throu' train school? I also thank you in advance in providing me more info about its primary as we will apply it this year.

I agreed with christf.
My son had been admitted by St. Paul and 高主教 but we chose St. Stephen. We had never thought about St. Jo because it was not our cup of tea.

I think St. Stephen College will change to DSS in 2008 and the fee will be $42000.
