Re: 沙田培基值得入讀嗎?
My son is a培基student. Let me give you a reference.
1. 校風
Above average. There are only a handful of bad conduct students in the school which include my son. In my point of view, these bad kids are not bad indeed. They are only non-initiative and non-responsible. A good point is that the principal and the teachers are members of most internet cafes in Shatin because they need to “catch” the students in such places.
2. standard (is it too difficult ?)
Normal. There is no hardship in studying. Academic result is not the first priority. The principal said academic result will be important in upper forms.
3. teachers (how's the turnover rate, are there too many new teachers?)
Turnover rate is high. My son told me the principal often blame the teachers and the students are so naughty that the teachers cannot stand for.
4. the environment around the school
No comment. You will find it at site.
5. students (do they enjoy learning ?)
They enjoy the school. Many students do not leave school early. My son rarely leaves school before 6 pm.
6. extra-curriculum activities
Reasonable. Their “learning without wall” is one of the examples. I like their summer activities most.
7. how the school help those students whose standard is low?
Retention class.
Whether Mandarin will be used in Chinese lessons is not important because they will learn Mandarin quickly if Mandarin songs are popular. Moreover, they had enough non-mother tongue, right? They use English to teach Chinese history but will use Chinese later because too many parents complain this.
Overall comment: Positive.
