Could you please tell me more about their Putonghua playgroup? Is it fully Putonghua? How many kids in the class? Thanks in advance!! How old is your son? Mine is 25 months.

My son only attend on Sat, 9:00-90:45 is English class and the second half is Putonghua. You can request to attend all Putonghua or English!! There are around 10 kids per class and 2 Teacher take care of the class. My son is not very old seven months younger than yours!! ^.^ Hope Can see you there!!

Thanks for the info! I will call them up. My son used to attend Victoria's bilingual playgroup. He did not pick up any Chinese though... maybe he was confused. Hope they have what I'm looking for! :)

If you speak both English and Putonghua to your baby at the same time, your baby will not like the single language baby! Don’t worry my baby cant speak much also!!

Ring Tutor Time to have a visit to the class lar!, BTW is your baby go to N1 this year?

Hi baby-austin,

I just called them up but got their answering machine, I'll call again Monday. My son talks alot actually, but only in English. It's quite tough to get him to be interested in Mandarin...
Since he's born 1/2005, he'll be entering N1 only in 2008. He'll go to playgroup at HKPS this Fall. How about your baby?

HI, does HKPS (Shatin or Kowloon Tong one?) offer playgroups? what is the min. age? I suppose they only have classes for kids at at least 2.

My son was born in Sep/05, and had an interview for N1 two weeks age, but end up with rejected (too small and put him in the waiting list). Actually he wasn't responed much in the interview, and he doesnt like to speak as well, maybe it is the disadvantage of him. My boy will got an other interview coming this Sat, hope he can got the place!!

BTW your son will be 28 months old this Aug, I think he can get into N1 this year!?

I thought the Nursery program is for applicants born between 1.1.2004 and 31.12.2004 and Playgroup for kids born between 1.1.2005 and 31.8.2005?
Didn't know they bend the rules... but if your son can't get a place in Nursey, you can consider the playgroup. Good luck.

About the Mandarin Playgroup, I'm interested. But do you know anyone who's already enrolled? The teacher and program is very important. Or else the kids will default to English and be disinterested.
Please let me know more.

HKPS offers Playgroups for kids Age 2 and Nursery for kids Age 2 and 8 months. How old is your baby? There are tons of playgroups available for kids under two though... You can attend those first to keep your baby occupied in the mean time. :)

As far as I know the baby must 2 year old before attend the N1, you may now to consider finding a place for your son!

My son already attended the Mandarin Playgroup for about six months, but I don’t think he cans response much on it. . Due to my one is not speaking much and I don’t speak Mandarin with him. Therefore, I don’t know what he got on it?!

On the other hand if you want your son conduct with Mandarin, I think you need to spend sometime on him with Mandarin after the playgroup.
