Unseen dictation is to test how good you are at that language, so your child should try to read more books and build up his/her vocab through daily life. Learn the words from the road signs, menu, magazines, ads, supermarkets.....etc.
Thank you for the good tips, only last night I also helped my son to prepare unseen dictation. I read out a paragraph from Harry Potter and both of us, well at least myself, enjoying the process.
Hogwarts (you can tell that we are fans of Harry la.)
Me and my girl are fans of Harry Potter as well. But my girl can only understand Chinese Version. She is 8, reading Book 5 now. I let her read whatever she likes !
Read books. newspapers is very helpful for unseen dictation.
thank you all!my son is a good reading chinese and english,he is 6 (K.3),primary 1 (september)will study in english primary,so i mind unseen dictation make me downgrade in english subject,Tinkerbell how about your daughter marks in unseen dictation ?
My girl first started not too good in unseen dictation, (around 7x marks) but now is improving much. She just get 99 marks in last exam for dictation & 97 for Chinese Dictation. Dictation include seen & unseen. Your son can surely handle unseen as he loves reading. No need to push, kids will "absorb" the words gradually through reading.
