已收到DGS的信

各位,
今日已收到DGS的信收了小女, 最遲15號要交學生証.
現在1516, 應否接受.
因擔心DGS 2005年轉直資後, 學生水平會否下降(會否叻的DGS學生會流失去其他精英官津中學以省回學費?)
請問有冇家長了解DGS最新的情況嗎? 謝!

DGS轉直資全程只不過多畀七萬餘元...一日三十零蚊=買包煙仔/一個午餐價錢，點會有咩影響，況且DGS不嬲都會以中產家庭為優先目標！

My daughter also received the letter from DGS today. I am considering whether or not to register. Our dream school is SPCC and I don't know whether we should register DGS and give up SPCC. Any ideas??? Thanks a lot....

首先恭喜你地，實在替你們高興。想請問你們的女兒有否特異功能或成績在頭三名？其實你地身邊的朋友今年有多少成功及失敗的例子呢？可否分享一下，因為我都好想幫個女考，現在做定準備功夫。麻煩晒！

唔明, DGS一年學費38000. 五年180,000元. 何解只是七萬多?
其實, 我不是擔心學費是否貴. 而是擔心學生的質素會否下降. 始終不是直資前, 不用考慮它一定各家長和學生的首選. 但轉直資收學費後, 學生和家長始終多了一個考慮, 會否因此這兩年多了小學部的優秀學生放棄直升而考往其他名校因而引致水平下降呢? 轉直資後的首批交學費學生還未有會考, 以前的驕人成績不能作準. 所以有冇家長老師知多一點他們近年初中的學生水平怎樣!謝!

My daughter also received the letter from DGS. We also apply SPCC and MCS. My daughter is an active girl with good academic results, participates in both music and sports(not the elite). She prefers DGS to SPCC. So it is better to talk with your daughter which school is right for her. May be you could register DGS first, and attend SPCC interview. If SPCC offer your daughter a place, may be you can withdraw your place from DGS but the $3800 is non-refundable. My son studies in SPCC,he enjoys his school life very much, because he also chose this school by himself two years ago.

Thank you very much, bloblomama. My daughter loves SPCC very much, that's why we are a bit puzzled as to what to do. To give up DGS seems very risky, as we don't know the chance of being admitted by SPCC.
Are you sure we can first register with DGS and withdraw the place later if we are admitted by SPCC (other than losing $3800)? If this is possible, then we need not think anymore. Please advise!!!

We also applied SPCC but I think we will give it up due to it is too far from my home and also DGS has accepted her. Either one is good for us!

I'm not sure, but they are both top school in HK, if you give up DGS offer, it will be easily replaced by the other one, that is why $3800 is non-refunable. May be you can phone DGS on Monday to check things out. There was a case one could withdraw the registration from SPCC sucseefully in mid-May. And if you have confident in your daughter and DGS is also one of her choice, why not register first?? This is my opinion only

i've once learnt from 1 of the mothers of an elite primary school student who was also a secondary school teacher commented that :-

if her girl accepts by both an elite aided secondary school and dgs (both girls' schools) she will sure go for the aided school for her girl. the reason is : both schools are not going to 'teach' her girl during her secondary education then why need to spend $38,000 per year? it's better to save the $ for her girl's spendings on tutorials, co-curricular actitivies ... etc.

thank you for your info. Since your daughter entered DGS last year, can you share your experience during the past year, anything good or bad is fine? Though I think I will register with DGS for my daughter anyway.

Hi All,

Congradulation to all of your smart girls can get into DGS. It is really not easy to get in it. Congradulation again to all of you.

By the way, would you mind to tell me which schools are your girls come from, is it all from
english primary school ? As I am also planning my girl to apply DGS on coming year. Would all of you advice the minimun requirement academic and what kinds of activity and share the interview experience.

我只知上年,有位家長收到DGS的電話
通知他後補有位,問他是否接受,他只說
了要和囡囡相量一下,點知學校就話佢
唔夠誠意,就立即當他放棄學位,前後冇
幾分鐘,想回頭都無話說,所以在決定前
應先考慮清楚。
