I let my son to learn piano when he is 4. I did not push him at all, just let him to get use to the piano. And when the time he is 5 years old, I felt that he can play quite good on it and understand more and more, but not just killing time. He is now 6 years old, and I just let me to tried to attend a piano exam. He passed the exam and get a honor on his grade.
And I have my girl at 4 years old now. She cannot seat down and pratice piano as long as her brother. Just making fun on piano, not concerate at all even she jusy learn for half an hour in every week.
I think is really depend on the child, see rather she love piano or not. But I think is better to let them start at 5 which the finger is well develop.
