The school does not require both parents to attend. In fact, some children were accompanied by one parent only. However, as far as I see, such accounted for 20%.
Since the interview involves the interview of parents, in my opinion, it is better to have the company of both parents. Though no competitive advantage, surely no comparative disadvantage.
I believe unless it is specially requested, the default language is Chinese/Cantonese.
In the beginning of the interivew, we parents were given one minute to introduce our son. As far as I surfed around the BK forum, if only one parent spoke in the introduction, the other parent may then be asked a simple question. I don't understand the reasons behind, anyway.
Then we parents were asked to leave the room. Our son then was asked/instructed to do some tasks e.g. describe a picture, build something out of blocks and then describe.
According to my son, the 3 decision makers i.e. Headteacher, the man and another senior teacher, did not ask questions. It was the other young lady asking the questions. So, the 3 decision makers just sit there and observe.
The format and style of the interview is quite innovative. I didn't see such arrangement before for primary admission.
