Re: No interview of Discretionary Places Allocation
ANChan59 寫道:
EMB echoed on parents request to increase the number of Discretionary Places from 1 to 2 in 2007-08 allocation scheme. The new application form provided have 2 choices for parents and students. But will create the following variables of the rule of game:
1. Priority
We can choose our priority and the school administrators suppose do not know our priority. Upto a point, some 2nd choice school may have a long list of accepted students, but they won't take the offer if they can get into 1st choice school .
2. Competition
Parents have one more choice, they will try more aggressively on some top notch school and use the second quota for their matched choice. In other word, more applications for those top notch school. May be more than double?
3. No interview
According to 1 & 2,some schools will skip the interview and allocate the balance scores to other parameters, like rank order list, conduct, awards and extracurricular activities.
As a parents, what can we refromulate our strateges to cope with this?
Pls comment and advise.
It's not easy as a lot of confusion would arise. Some top students may get into schools of lower banding if they make a wrong order of priority in their applications. Some more daring students may get into better banding schools if they take their risk. More choices make decision more difficult and create more uncertainty. This may not be good for both students and schools. |
