HKUGAP's selection criteria

Dear mom,

My daughter did the 1st interview on 22 Oct and was not elected for the 2nd interview, according to what she said, the teacher just ask her to read the Chinese and English story book and then ask her to draw a picture for their own parents? Is it same as yours, and how to judge the kid's character simply based on that? Just write to share

Hi naivemon,

I totally understand your disappointment.  It is never easy to judge a kid's potential in a brief interview.  Besides the one-to-one Q & A, the kids were told to play in the classroom where a teacher observed their behaviour, like communication skills, problem-solving skills...

The selection process is really subjective, I think.

MY kid was not asked to draw a picture alone. Instead, he was asked to work with other kid in the same group to paint a picture. May be they want to see if the kid are co-operative.

By the way, any members has the chance to join the 2nd interview and can you share the experience with us.

我都覺得好睇細路仔當時狀態同埋"運", 如果當時狀態吾好幾頂班都跑吾出, 我個八妹仔讀劍嗚英文同普通話都過得去, 已經好 open 八八卦卦周圍逗人玩都比陳守人fail左, 明日個八妹仔去 HKUGA 2nd in 祝佢好運啦.

PS....我吾識賭馬ga.

If not the parents, who should???

I remember I laughed when someone wrote in BK that she had to bring the child to interview with the grandfather and helper - it just show the inability of the mother to take care of the child, I think.

As you talk about TSL, I heard that because they received 2,000 applications, they simply screened out those who cannot write their Chinese name in the first round interview. My son was out, i guess, because of that... :cry:

Oh, at spcc interview, many parents brought grandma, grandpa and helpers. Well, I guess the school doesn't mind as long as the parents are famous and rich.

I bet them failed - as far as I can observe, the headmistress does not appreciate the casual style.

Regarding bringing Grandparents to the interview, what's the point? I can't get it.

Dear BK friends,

It is really so encouraging that it has 10+ responses to my query as it is the first time I visit the site and join in the chat room.

Anyway, I still feel so unreasonable to know about the interview process. I think I has nothing to say if they ask the kids for personal details, interest and etc. At least, they can express something about themselves. As my daughter is the kind of girl who is outspoken and caring girl. But be honest, she can only speak well (both Chinese and English), but cannot read well and didn't know much vocabulary.

Afterall, I just want to know from those who can enter the 2nd interview about the winning tips behind.

老婆話armarm個八妹 in 完, 老師問佢如果有隻蜘蛛在手上你會點, 其他小朋友答踏死佢, 撥開佢, 八妹竟然答"假既, 一淡食左佢"……肥硬…..冇命
