Re: The Role of Parents
Dear Kycmc,
Many thanks for your sharing. I appreciate your good ways of fostering childen very much. We should cherish your two points: make them become booklovers and have a passion for life.
I don't know if other international schools offer excellent placement counselling service like HKIS.
Other parents may share their views on "the roles of international school and parents to make children get into top universities".
Kycmc 寫道:
HKIS is an accredited school under US government and therefore enjoys the same status as high schools in USA. This connection, coupled with their students' exemption from SAT, may partly account for their good US university placements.
All IS have University Placement Councellors. Their connections and knowledge also play a significant part. But of course if a student is not good enough, there is no way the Counsellor can help him get into a good university.
As for parents' involvement in cultivating high achievers, this can be a topic for a long long essay. Parenting books in the book store will tell you thousands of things that can be done. I can only share with you what I consider to be important for a child's growth and development:1. help your child become a book lover; 2. help him or her develop a passion for life.
