差不多, 因為我囡也是考完G5, 剛剛轉了老師, 雖然貴的, 但冇辦法, 因為經驗多的, qualification 高的, 擇details 仔細的.

If you feel your teacher is not O.K., you may consider to change (because some teacher only teach to Grade 5) . But under my situation, now I'm in Diploma grade but still follow the same teacher and add one more teacher (because some teachers are good in performance but some are good in theory). This just according to your needs.

Dear c0271 and other moms
it really depends how experienced/ qualified the teacher is.

Personally I think one should at least have G8 before teaching to G5. A teacher with ATCL / Dip ABRSM will be better for G6-7. For G8, I personally think either the teacher needs to be fairly experienced with ATCL/ Dip, or better still someone with LTCL/ a music degree will be better (this is more for the breath of musical knowledge).

Although I am a music graduate myself, but I truly think experience do count too. You may find some teachers are very good at teaching young students, because they just have the patience and skills to deal with the little ones and arouse their interest, however, she may not be the best tutor for G8. On the other hand, some more 'qualified' teachers, maybe better at teaching higher grades, because of the better technique s/he has, and the breath of knowledge too ( very important, esp in G7 and 8, and the examiner/ ajudicator will be looking for interpretation/ stylistic correctness, rather than simply playing all the notes.

Of course, if you are lucky to get someone who is patient enough, but also technically and knowledge vise very competent, then you simply have got the best of both worlds.

謝謝各位的意見.
但一般的琴行會有Diploma grade或以上的鋼琴老師嗎?我見大部分都很年輕. 我曾經問過琴行,他們只答：我們的老師個個都有grade 8．

他們亦不會告訴我幾時要轉其他higher grade的老師．

Per this post, you are following 2 teachers, am I right? Why you are still looking for teacher?

And I would like to know how you allocate your time to practise 2 teachers pieces? For a diploma student, I think at least practise 2 hours/day.
