hurrah,

yes, he starts to join yesterday.  so i want to know more about the school.  As yesterday, he have the Chinese home work already.  But not others.  The Blue (hand) book is for communication only.  They don't need to write down anythings at the books e.g. homework.  if then, how come we knows which homework need to do or not?

He seems quite enjoy and want to play with the classmates. e.g. find a good friend to play with.

At the beginning of the school year, the teacher had already explained the arrangement of homeworks.  For P1 students, they are given chinese homework 2 times a week and they need to return the homework the next day.   So, if your son receive the homework today, he need to return it tomorrow.  However, I don't know if it applies to P2 also.  Sometimes, if you have anything to tell or ask the teacher, u can just write in the blue book.  The teacher will give the reply on your blue book.
I hope your son can make friends with others very soon.

i would like to tks for your valuable comments here as it is not so many KCIS mama here.  really help me to solve some of the problems.

What is your comment of the teacher at KCIS?  Are they nice, take well care of the students, good teaching skills.

Re the English lesson, Which method they uses at P. 1. Are they using the story books to teacher or how they teaches English?

I'm seriously thinking of KCIS for my son who is just about 9 months old.  I understand that there's no nursery class for KCIS.  Should I send my son to KCS nursery first and then apply for KCIS the next year for K1 ?  Any priorty for KCS nursery kids ?  Thanks.

IS schools usually teach English through reading.  For P1, oxford reading tree is used and everyday my kid bring home a book to read with me.  Then we are asked to write some comments on the blue reading book.  My kid will be asked to read out the book in class the next day, sometimes the teacher will write some comments to let you know the progress.  Phonics is taught in P1 extensively, so that students will be able to read and spell after learning phonics.   If your son has learnt phonics before, he'll catch up easily in P2.

yes, my son bring one ORT book yesterday but is level 1 only.  i ask him to read to me, may be he still has some words don't know how to read.  It's seems easy for him as we read around level 3 at home.  He said the teacher ask him to read with me around 20 mins.  So my book he bring back home need to make sure that he know all the words insides?

I don't have the blue reading book, is it the blue book for communication?  Which level does your kids reading at right now?

Really tks for your advise.

For the Math, They teaches "x" times already, it's seems quite far than local school. 1 x 10 = 10, 2 x 10 = 20 etc.

For P. 1, Will they teaches plus and minus?

yes, P. 2 is for 6 yrs old.

For the ORT - Oxford reading tree series, as you know, there are many different patterns, like more stories level and more sentences level at ORT as well.  If then, what is the meaning and what do you want to know?  Do you means level 1 is too easy for 6 yrs kid?

Your kid is study at IS as well?  what is the reading's level?  As my boy just join the IS and he is study at local kinder previously, may be his ready ability is lower than other IS's student!

My kid in P1 is now reading level 2 already.  The level assigned by the teacher varies among the students as it depends on the reading ability of each student. I think may be the teacher just wants to know the level of your son first, if he finds him with no difficulty in level 1 and 2, he will increase the level for him very soon.
There is another blue book for reading and you have to write some comments after reading.

For maths, they are learning addition and subtraction for 1 digit now.

as my kid is just join IS for two days and he was not study at IS kinder as well.  so may be his reading ability is below average.  i really need to push him up la. HAHA.
