HK Preschool - Royal Ascot, Fotan

Hi,

I have to write in English because I cannot read or write in Chinese. I probably only know less than 100 words. Sorry.

My little girl (23 months old) has just been accepted for pre-nursery at HK Preschoo, Fotan. She is starting next month.

Can someone tell me more about the school? I'm trying to decide whether to put her there or another school called Anchors in Taipo, which is closer to home.

I must say the curriculum is good and they have many activities and talks for parents and students. The place is very nice but there is no fresh air in the preschool. All the classrooms and open area have air-conditioners only. Since the kids are easier to get ill and inflect the others, many students are always getting ill and absent during their school-time especially in the playgroup and K1 class. Some of the teachers are very nice but others are not. I feel that if your family background is good (e.g. richer), their attitude will be much better.

They are lack of man-power that they can't take much care of the students. Every time, I found that my daughter was hurt (bitten by other kid) and called to the teachers. They always said that my daughter hadn't cried in the lesson. However, my daughter told me the different stories. I must say, I like the curriculum but not the teachers' and principal's attitude.

Oh dear, what a bummer for your daughter

Your comment is really valid. For a school that's popular, they will have a good curriculum, but because they are hugely sought after, they will have lots of students with limited time to care for each one of them.

This is okay if our kids themselves are independent, self-motivated and can learn on their own.... but may not be ideal if they love interaction. Two very different styles of learning. I don't really know which style my little girl thrives in so I guess I'll have to wait and see. We'll try for a few months and if it doesn't work out, there's still Anchors.

Anchors I heard is a great school, the kids love it there and it's also very popular. However, I'm just worried in terms of reputation. I heard that kids from HK Preschool go to better schools. Another downside I heard is that it could be very academic. Do you think so, 臻臻媽?

I haven't heard Anchors before. I know St Catherine, Kenville, Munsang, ..... That's why I fail to give you any comment. This year, I also heard that HK Preschool can go to better schools but I don't know whether it's from Fotan's or Kowloon Tong's. I prefer Kowloon Tong's where the principal is good and the kindergarten is larger than Fotan's.

My daughter left Fotan's HK Preschool already after the completion of the playgroup class.

Supplement to my previous e-mail, I have a set of HK preschool's summer, winter and PE uniform since my daughter no longer studies there. They're all free and brand new in size no.6. If anyone want them, please let me know by PM.

I finally choose Pui Ching since I don't need to worry about the entry to primary school. All K3 students can directly go to Pui Ching primary school and around 80% can go the Pui Ching secondary school. My boss's three kids are now studying in Pui Ching Kindergarten & Primary School and his comment is very good to both teachers and curriculum.

In addition, I like boys & girls school since I have friends who are homosexual which become popular in HK nowadays (maybe too many girls in HK). I respect their sexual preference but I don't want it happen to my daughter.

有難度. 平時面試家長可以陪同, 小朋友會比較安心, 但培正只讓五位小朋友入去面試, 家長不能在旁, 在樓梯口等又唔知考什麼, 比較難準備或幫手. 如果小朋友害怕一個人入去面試, 或受其他小朋友影響(有d小朋友會喊), 就弊啦! 有時講彩數.

In fact, principal takes care of Pui Ching primary school and vice-principal takes care of Pui Ching Kindergarten. At the moment, I have heard any bad comment on vice-principal and she looks like a nice housewife.
