19/6 Deadline of London Tests of English

London Tests of English 16/9 截止八月考試, 我有以下的問題, 請解答:
1) 是否在這個網址的網上報名就可以了?因為這個網址是在英國, 我不知是否正確? 還有多少費用及如何申請?

3) 可否不讀他的課程, 直接考試?

Only 2 LTEfC will be held in HK each year, usually at May and Nov.

1. You may download the application from from http://www.hkeaa.edu.hk/zh/otherexam_test_lte.html

For coming Nov exam, updated details will be posted in the HKEAA website by end of June

2. At the learning centre itself (if you apply the exam thru the centre) or at San Po Kong Exam Authority

3. Yes.

4. Starting from Nov-06 exam, there will be "Firstword" exam opened for K2/K3 kids. Before that the lowest level at HK is "Springboard".

Do you mean if I would like my child to attempt the November exam (Firstword), I would have to apply by end of June? Can you also recommend a learning centre? Alternatively, if I would like my child to attempt the exam without attending relevant English courses, where can I get hold of the syllabus and/or specimen exam papers?

I know Blink Think at CWB will arrange preparation course for LTEfC exams. You may visit their website for further info.

Sample paper is here

Nov exam can be applied from end of June to Aug.

K1小朋友會唔會未ready報呢? 感覺上oral無問題, 但張written 係 one hour paper, 唔計揸筆未係好好, 坐成個鐘, 驚發夢發咗半個鐘, 你小朋友係K1, K2 or K3?

My son is in K2 now and I will arrange him to take springboard in the coming Nov exam.

Yes, agree that K1 is still too young to take written test even for firstword level.

If your child is good at spoken english (but not yet ready for written part), you may try Trinity Speech and Drama graded exam. In this exam, the children just need to recite a poem and tell a story (all from memory) to the examiner, and a little chat about the chosen pieces in 8 minutes time (for Intial Grade).

我諗妳仔英文都好叻咯!
k3人仔考springboard唔易喎!
除左oral部份容易d應付外, written部份都唔係太淺架, 考springboard正常係forP1-2既, 老實講, 去到試場既小朋友我見大多係P2.
如你仔有o甘既能力, 我覺得都唔使為呢個試去讀course啦! dowload paper做下都ok. 好似cambridge一樣.
cambridge starter淺過springboard.

Hi Bambi,

Actually I've ever thought of taking Cambridge Starters exam ..... but they only accept children who are aged 6 and studying at primary school. Hence no chance to take until end of next year.

btw, I think springboard is not too difficulat cos Oral part has been increased from 10% to 20% effective from May-06 exam. So written part only counts 80%.

And out of the 80%, only 30% really need to "write" in the form of answering short questions and fill in the blanks. The remaining 50% is just listening to the questions and "draw lines" to match pictures and "tick" the appropriate box out of 3 answers.

Hence I think this exam is more focused on listening and comprehension skill instead of writting skills.

Having said that Cambridge starter is more easier than springborad, how about starter compare with firstword? Or movers compare with springboard/quickmarch?

以我個人黎講, 如果去得考試, 我會肯定有把握, 如果只係對某一part有信心, 其實考出黎成績不會理想, 要張唔好成績既cert又有乜用呢!
如果妳仔talk得, 不如諗下Trinity, more focus on speaking in english.
For Cambridge Movers, I know is mainly for P3-4 but I also know a P1 boy take Flyers and got good result.
無話一定唔得既, 妳最清楚妳仔去到咩level.

Agree with you. For those external eng exam, I would also make sure my son is well-prepared before going.

btw, my son has just finished his Trinity graded exam in May and got his results yesterday from the learning centre. To my satisfaction, he got 82 marks (pass with merit) this time.

Exactly. 所以我一睇Firstword張written paper就知我小朋友未ready. But regarding Trinity, 我打咗去兩間learning centre問, 一聽見我小朋友係K1, 都advise我 "6歲先啦" 咁有無Kowloon side的learning centre介紹? 我可以問定啫, 過咗summer我小朋友都K2啦.

Trinity好多center都有課程, 如kowloon side可試問下kids gallery. 另我SAT聽左個ESOL考試既seminer, 個負責人話4歲就可以考, 都係London AQA考試局發出既, 張CERT佢話almost全球學校都丞認.

Trinity 同 Cambridge 好似都係要足6 yrs 至可以考。我个女都係k2( e家4.5 yr), 似乎冇乜認可cert, LCM 你哋覺得有冇代表性?
