Re: St Jo Kinder - 2006 K2
WildHorseSon & all,
Agree with most of your points, like school is old, not much space to kids, on the day of interview, most of notice written by hand, etc...
The best value of this K2 would be the high chance to get in the P1.
Although we have to take the P1 lucky draw from public too.
(It seems that the primary is a top 10)
My son like to study in St Margaret Mary at this moments.
My wife and i have to educate him that St. Joseph will become tough after he get in.
Since St. Joseph K2 is famous in HK Island, i would like to take this chance for my kid to have a try on this traditional K.
And hope my son would be familiar with the style of it and have high chance to get in the St. Joseph P1... (hopefully)
For the interview, i know that my son play the puzzle, normal taking and Enghish chat only. At before, i don't think my son will get in due to he is born at Oct (small kid). And finally, he need to change the school again.
That's my thought!
>>only 50% seats available for
>>all kids from St. Jo Primary.
I think after our kids study in P1-P6, it would be high chance to have seat in other college instead of only for St. Joseph. Even that only 50% to get-in to the relative college.
Please correct me if i am wrong, thanks

My son got accepted too; however, we are still considering, and there is a highly chance that may not let him in because:
1) low quality in Kinder, according to my friend (she is a teacher in St. Jo Primary). Boys with low grades are 99% from St. Jo Kinder.
2) Traditional school teaching method. Teachers there are antique, and sometimes no motivation to teach or care kids.
3) Chinese Kinder with limited chance to pratice English and Mandarin. Languages using in my kid's kinder are English and Mandarin.
4) Limited areas for exercise. The only space is the top floor with a shabby look.
5) Class rooms are on the top floor. Kids need to go all the way for class rooms and exercise. That's another critical safety issue.
The only merit is that my kid has relatively good chance to go to Primary (not 100% though). HOWEVER, it worries me that St. Jo College has only 50% seats available for all kids from St. Jo Primary.
Any other inputs from other parents? |
