I read some message in BK that DBS, DDGS, St paul-co-ed are moving to IB.

I did a search on www.ibo.org websites for HK ibo schools, the result is --> http://www.ibo.org/school/search/index.cfm?programmes=&country=HK&region=&find_schools=Find

All the above 3 schools are not included in the list.

Then, when i go to the individual websites of the above schools, there is nothing mention that they are moving to IB.

Is it really true that DBS, DGS, st paul-co-ed are moving to IB? If so, where can i confirm the info??

where did you hear such rumours from?
DBS DGS SPCC are just 3 normal HK local schools, following normal HK education system. Don't compare them with other international schools in HK.

Some news previously said that DBS or DGS may plan for IB Diploma only, it takes many years to prepare and apply to be IB schools, and get authorisation after a few years further. So maybe you will see it after many years.

Right now, IB is still run by international schools, and Renaissance College and Victoria are schools which will have through train IB (PYP, MYP and IBP) soon.

I don;t know about DGS and SPCC, but I understand DBS will have IB syllabus on offer in about 6 years time. Those who will join Form 1 this coming Sept will be the first batch who may opt for IB in Form 6.

i see, chatterbox is your child(ren) studying in DBS pri or sec. sch??

留住學生撥千萬培訓教師 2006年3月14日

【明報專訊】新高中課程2009年出籠，愈來愈多直資和私立學校有計劃開辦「國際文憑課程」(International Baccalaureate，簡稱IB)，開IB課程學校預料於3年內由6間增至20間，為學生在新高中課程之外提供另一升學途徑。直資名校拔萃男書院則率先加入「IB潮」，擬撥款千萬元培訓教師和興建教學樓，2009年「一校兩制」推行新高中學制及IB課程，成為首間宣布辦IB的傳統名校。

辦IB學校 3年料增至20間

現時全港有6間學校開辦IB文憑課程，連同逐步轉行IB的4所英基學校協會轄下中學，以及新開辦IB的私校及直資學校，3年後提供IB課程的學校將增至近20所，學位倍增至近1000個。

男拔計劃於2009年，加開2班約60個學額的「IB班」，供學生選擇，亦會吸納外校生。校長張灼祥強調，引入IB不代表對本地學制失去信心，只是IB文憑的歷史較悠久，外地認受性較大。他說﹕「一個是咖啡、一個是茶，只是提供多個選擇。」張灼祥表示，每年會考後不少學生「棄高考而取IB」，離開男拔轉投現時本港少數開辦IB的私校李寶椿聯合世界書院，反映IB具吸引力，「曾經一年走了8個學生(到李寶椿)﹗由男拔自己辦IB，可留住學生」。

兩年課程成本達20萬

IB課程要求小班教學，對師生比例有嚴格要求，兩年課程成本達20萬元，被喻為「貴族玩意」。開辦IB課程的直資學校，每名學生可獲每年3萬元政府津貼，但仍欠7萬元，需由學校或學生分擔，一般直資亦難以開辦。

張灼祥坦言，為開辦IB課程，未來須增聘15名教師，學生須「用者自付」，校董會對新高中課程及IB課程的學費均未有「定價」，但保證「本地班」與「IB班」學費相差不會超過1倍。今年9月起，男拔高中每年學費為3.3萬元。

聖保羅憂標籤效應未拍板

另一有意開辦IB課程的「名牌直資」聖保羅男女中學，仍未公布開辦IB課程細節。

據悉，IB計劃已交校董會討論，遲遲未能「拍板」的原因是「IB班」與本地班學費相差太大，擔心造成貧富標籤效應。

拔萃女書院校長劉靳麗娟則表示，學校暫仍無意引入IB，仍會採用本地新高中課程，「這是對本地學制投下信心一票」。她補充，女拔學生過去在本地學制一直表現優秀，相信「不一定要IB才可保持競爭力」。
