我有三個，最大的這年入小一。最少的 15 個月。

我想最大完成中一、二後去加拿大。不過都需要看到時情況。

Yes, we also got this plan too. After primary school education, the children will be sent to overseas with their grandparents.

If you're planning to go to North America, it's indeed OK to go there after Form one, for their secondary school (high school) begins in grade 8.

Some of my friends who went to Canada after P6 found themselves VERY MUCH left out in grade 7.  After all, the students there have already formed their own circles of friends.  They told me that it was not so good an experience because it was hard for them to find partners for graduating camps/other group activities.

If you begin grade 8 there, the children will have lots of opportunities to meet new friends because there are usually many recreational activities at the beginning of grade 8.  This way, the children will have a smoother social transition.

Another advantage of staying in HK for another year (if the child is originally studying in an English school) is that the child can build up a better foundation of math in HK.  In addition, even if the child stays in HK, moving from P6 to F1 requires some adjustments. Then your child will be more mentally ready for changes in a foreign country.

大伯移民悉尼多年, 計劃大仔會去那邊升學. 因有人照顧, 時間表就睇睇自己的財務狀況.

So where can we find some details regarding secondary school in Canada? Any good schools to recommend? Do they classify which school is good and which one is not so good like the way in HK does? How you comment for government school vs private one (or some other kinds since I don't familiar with that) in Canada?

Dear Mayumi,

I new in here and my family just moved back fr Ontario, Canada on late 2004.
In Canada, U only can study at the school most closed to your home, unless U choose to go to the private.

If go there for grade 1 , do you think it is too "small" ? How to find a better elementary school ?? is it a full-day school ? school will arrange lunch to the students ? so many questions .......

I had plan to let my child go oversea after primary school, but my husband rejected it. We change our plan, we let my child study at international school now, and would let them go oversea for University.

Do you mean that there's no grading for all government school and all their standards are similar? In that case, would standard in private school higher than the government one?

Hi Mayumi,

Yes, the goverment does not grade the school. As the kids only can go to the school most close to their home (only 1 or 2 school),and almost all the primary school has secondary & hight school. So that the parent will go by the nos. of student entry to the good U, such as U of Toronto, U of Waterloo etc.... and the price of the house in these area is highter than other area (Similar to HK).

Dear GiCa,

Do U think it is better to let kids start from Grade 8 (is that equal to Form 2) in Toronto instead of Grade 7 (is that equalt to Form 1). Besdies, is there any good schools or which district is the best for schools for grade 8. And do you know how can I find the information about the success rate of entry to UT of these schools. Thanks a lot as I got such a lot of questions.

Hi,

I was graduated from the Loretto College School (Brunswick - not the Abbey) in Toronto. It is a girl school if your kid is a girl, this school is quite good. The sisters there helped us a lot, they have the EAS class for Asian student. It's been a long time ago, my English class teacher phone the University to give very good comments for her students. My classmates, most of them went to study in:

U of T, Queens U, York etc. I went to UWO( U of Western Ontario).

Over 85% are Canadian (western) students.

In Canada, not all (100%) secondary school student can go to University ? Can you tell me the % for secondary student to go to University. That means the competition is also keen. right ? Or there are other reasons for secondary student not go to U (eg. school fee, family, go to aboard ..... ).
How about the standard of catholic school (elementary & secondary ) ?
