The boy has a bad cut______his finger.
Hong Kong Island is south______Kowloon.
Please hand _______your homework now.
I live in/on Block A.
We buy vegetables in/at the market.

Market is supposed to be a certain bigger area (which we should use IN) while post office is only a small point in the map (which we should use AT).

Dear cow:
Please see the example in Yahoo dictionary--
"Myanmar is to the south of China.
緬甸在中國的南面。"

English is a very troublesome language, you can find lot of exceptions.  I  always use a search engine to do my grammatical check.  If you can find many foreigners using the same sentence in different articles then the chance of being correct is very high.

Yes, we need the word "the " before "south". Otherwise, I think it is incorrect.
