為囡囡選小一準備,所以懇請St. Mary(TST)的家長指教以下問題:

- 你囡囡謮得開唔開心?
- St. Mary是選用那種教學法?
- 功課,測驗,考試壓力大嗎? 普遍要補習嗎?
- 兩文三語著重嗎?
- 此校有無其他教學特色?
- 如無宗教信仰,與協恩和Marynoll相你會比如何選擇?

一口氣問了許多問題請見諒,做媽咪的心情相信你會理解!

HI Stelow,

My daughter studies in St. Mary's P.1. So far she is very happy in her primary school life and she likes her school very much.

According to my daughter, most of the teachers are nice. Compare with her friend who is studying in other primary school, the pressure is not big. Every week the school has Mandarin and English speaking days.

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm glad to hear that your daughter enjoys her school life at school.  I have some more questions:

- Are teachers native speakers for the English and Mandarin subjects?  How frequent the students can meet with them?

- Is the Chinese subject taught in Mandarin or Cantonese?

- Do students need to do English Maths?

My daughter only gets 15 points, I think it's difficult to be accepted by St. Mary in the stage of 自行收生, just rely on the A & B parts lucky draw.  By what way your daughter be accepted, any advice you may give me?

I attended the P.1 parent day a few weeks before. The school introduced the parents her teachers. There is one native speaker (foreigner but I forgot her nationality

) to teach English readings every week.

For Mandarin lesson, I am not sure whether the teacher is native speaker. The pronounciation of Mandarin which my daughter learns from school is quite accurate.

For other subjects, Maths is in Chinese and Science is in English.

For the 15 points owner, the chance in the first round is very slim. You may try the 2nd round lucky draw or 'knock the door' after 2nd round. My daughter was accepted in the first round last year. She was lucky as most of her classmates having 20 points were unable to be admitted.

1. 每星期需要中/英默書嗎?
2. 每學年有多少次測驗、考試?
3. 有沒有閱讀課外書的計劃? 每年要讀多少本呢?

My daughter has Chinese dictation nearly once a week. They have two times of examination in a year. Sorry that I am not sure how many times of test. She finished Science test this Monday, English dictation yesterday and tomorrow she will have Chinese dictation.

The school encourages reading. Everyday they have 15 minutes of "Early Reading" before the first lesson. They have reading scheme. For pupil who complete reading 60 books in the acadamic year may get the "Gold Prize".

Thanks for sharing. I struggled last year for which school to choose for my daughter: St. Mary's or Maryknoll. To me both schools are good. Now I know that both my hubby and I made a right decision. Thanks God!
